jpg files
any reason these are all jpg? should they be left that way? --- Collin - (T/C) 05:32, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- JPGS are for photo and video images, screenshots should always be PNGs. I'm not sure of the technical reasons, but they just look better. Tom explaned it all to me like a year and a half ago, but I forgot everything that he explained, besides the basic principle that it should be that way. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 05:41, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

- Here's a better answer with links if you want a better explanation. It's come up before, originally being discussed around a year and a half ago. For further reading, check on over [[Wikipedia:JPEG}JPEG|here]]. But as a general rule of thumb, if it's a screenshot of the website, it's a PNG. If it's a photograph of something that hasn't been converted to flash, then it's a JPEG. I'm not sure if it's ever been written in stone under the HRWiki policy, but I'll look into it. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 05:55, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- EDIT: Found the offical HRWiki page, I'm currently in the process of making it a bit more visible. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 06:15, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- I'm still a little confused on something though, occasionally in the flash on the website there is a video or a photo.. its still in the flash, but its an actual pixel photo. pixel as in normal flash is vector and the video is not. why should these still be PNG? those are really photo or video, although they are technically a screenshot of flash.---

- Tom showed me this image to illustrate his point, which made sense to me. Even if it's a video, it's still in flash, and taking a screenshot of it will still look better as a PNG. That's the best I can explain it. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 06:28, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
