I'm stumbling upon this conversation months later, but I see that nobody's really answered the question. Why, on the article page, is he called "1-Up the extra man" instead of just "1-Up"? Every time somebody tries to fix it, it gets reverted. The only reference to this I can find is one instance in the Stinkomanual, and that seems more like a throwaway line than anything. Okay, but where is this interview? Is there a transcript available to read? Even supposing it's true, does that make it canon? It seems like "1-Up the extra man" is like saying "Pan Pan the Giant Panda" or "Stinkoman the guy with blue hair". — It's dot com 23:52, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Seriously, I read your post (and that interview), but maybe I was unclear, so I'll spell it out: Mike saying "It’s either Extra Man or One Up" fits with the line in the Stinkomanual; that is, I can see how the former inspired the latter, but I what I don't get is how an obscure, non-canon interview combined with an intentionally poorly written, uncapitalized, throwaway reference in the manual makes 1-Up's name anything more than "1-Up". I say uncapitalized because if the manual read, "1up the Extra Man", I could accept it as part of the name, but I think it's just a description—if 1-Up weren't getting in the way on that level, Stinkoman wouldn't have to protect him. 20X6 Homestar?

Is it really nessecary to say that we used to call him 20X6 Homestar? It's okay to say when he was first officially named, but I don't think the old name is nessecary, as it isn't even related to anything officially H*R, just stuff from the wiki. --Joshua 15:32, 25 Mar 2005 (MST)
