Contents |
[edit] Description
The beige computer tower features four drive bays; the front has various red, orange, yellow, and green indicator lights. A stylized graphic of Bubs's face is embossed on the front and sides. On the rear, a COMPY-branded panel features several elements:
- Modem socket ("1 baud")
- Three "Status" lights
- Vertical and horizontal "calibrate" dials
- Three "da huuuge ports" with 23-pin connectors
A button at the bottom of the screen resets the view.
[edit] Easter Eggs
- By zooming the camera inside the computer box, a single Swiss Cake Roll can be seen.
[edit] Fun Facts
[edit] Explanations
- A webpage with the URL
www.homestarrunner.com/localhtmellis shown onscreen on Back To A Website (though the HTML code pictured does not correspond to this page). - The camera can be controlled with the mouse: left-clicking and dragging to orbit, right-clicking and dragging to pan, and the scroll wheel to zoom.
[edit] Trivia
- The layout of the server's rear resembles the Compy iPhone Cases previously sold in the Store: the modem, status, calibration, and port designs are all carried forward.
[edit] Goofs
- The highlight for the top-left pin on the first huuuge port is misaligned.
[edit] Remarks
- The horizontal "calibrate" dial scrolls left to increase and right to decrease, the inverse of a typical adjustment dial.
[edit] Inside References
- Several references are made to the Strong Bad Email isp:
- The page title refers to Strong Bad's accusation that Bubs, his Internet service provider, is "throttling me down".
- The modem uses baud units, as Strong Bad's connection did in isp.
- The design of the Datum Center computer was first shown in this email.
- "Da huuuge ports" allude to Da Huuuuuudge, a monstrous variation of Strong Bad from animal.
- The Swiss Cake Roll inside the server is a reference to the sabotaged CD drive from The System is Down.
[edit] Real-World References
- The ports resemble parallel ports, albeit with two fewer pins.
