Rename plan of action

So... what should we do? Move everything here and make retirement, retirement A and retirement B redirects? With appropriate mentions in Trivia, of course? --phlip TC 07:35, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

That would make sense to me. I wasn't sure what to do when I started the page, so I left it out there to see what would happen. - Jason
I'm for keeping the old ones, myself. Especially if the Flash files are still there (the html files aren't, but I haven't checked the Flash yet.) --Jay (Gobble) 08:25, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Ooookay, so they're not there any more. Still, I'm for keeping the old ones, but if consensus is to remove them, then fine. I won't be happy about it, but it won't be the first time. --Jay (Gobble) 08:26, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
There are quite a few changes between the old ones and the new ones, keeping the old pages wouldn't be a bad idea. Esspecially if the old flash files are archived somewhere. - Jason
I guess that makes sense. I'm still for making retirement a redirect rather than a disambig, and then put {{about}} and {{for}} at the top of the page. --phlip TC 08:44, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
As long as the changes between the originals and the new combined one are well documented I'll be happy either way. But I'd be slightly happier w/ keeping the old pages. Atw4299 09:45, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm guessing the (combined) will disappear in a week or so. Because it won't make sense to future new viewers as is. But anyway, we definitely shouldn't have a duplicate transcript like this.I think we shoud all merge them here, and put something in trivia and maybe post the mirrors in the external links. - Joshua 13:32, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I'll bet you one million lbs of candy that ultimately the name on the Denny's menu will just be retirement, which is where this article should probably be. And I don't think we should maintain separate pages of nearly-identical information, as it violates the once-and-only-once rule. The other pages should be redirects, with the differences from previous versions explained somewhere. Oh, and I totally called this. — It's dot com 14:01, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
My counterargument comes in the form of five words: Teen Girl Squad Issue 1. That is all. --Jay (Gobble) 16:31, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
My argument comes in two words: crazy cartoon. The flash files for A and B are not even on the site anymore which is why I think they should be deleted. -Jeppo (TLC) 16:49, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
As Denny's lists this as "retirement (combined)", and the two halves no longer exist, my vote is to 1) drop our grapes, 2) check to be sure no info has been forgotten on the A and B pages, 3) delete retirments A and B and possibly the retirment disambig page, and 4) unmask that Cheat. The links to the mirrored half-emails can be linked from here. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 18:09, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Ow... your vote is succulently crushing my windpipe. I'm all for that one. — Lapper (talk) 19:00, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Process has begun. We need to go through the incoming links to the A and B page to be sure everything's fixed right. This'll take a little time or a few people working together. Oh, and we need to leave the subtitle transcripts alone, so the mirrors can use them. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 19:18, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

I question the need to physically delete retirement A and B. They don't hurt anything as redirects, and the history can always be viewed to see how the toons originally existed seperately. Just like we don't delete older revisions of any page, retirement A and B are older revisions of this page, which was mostly copied and pasted. Thunderbird 21:44, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
I'd support keeping them around as redirects if there's conmsensus for it. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 21:46, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
We could even merge the histories if we wanted, but the redirects should stay, if only because there are links to the separate pages out there in InternetLand (for example, on various forums, including our own). — It's dot com 21:50, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Merging the history would be a bad idea, since they overlap in time... the edits would be sorted by time, and the edits from the two pages would be all mixed up with each other... it would just get confusing. I say just leave them as is. --phlip TC 21:57, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Can I Get A Reference?

Am I right in thinking that when Strong Bad says "Can I get a witness?", it's a reference to Some Kind of Wonderful by Grand Funk Railroad? I know TBC probably don't listen to that kind of stuff, but the quote jumped out at me as that song lyric. What do you guys think? -Brightstar Shiner 20:48, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Or "Can I Get A Witness" by Marvin Gaye, or "Can I Get A Witness?" by Run-DMC, or... See also this page... it's a common phrase. This was also already discussed. --phlip TC 21:16, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Oh. Right. Sorry. -Brightstar Shiner 20:13, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Easter Egg Tie?

From flashback: This email has the most Easter eggs in any email to date, with eight. As far as I can tell, this email now ties that record of eight, if you don't merge the seperate easter eggs of clicking on the Tandy's contrast knobs, and clicking on the Compy's contrast knobs, at the end. Just wondering...

Would it be worth mentioning that this is the second time the Lappy exploded? --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 23:25, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Lappy? Explode? I must have missed that. ;) (I assume you meant "Tandy".) --Jay (Gobble) 23:36, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Umm...

Did any of you notice that Homestar's mouth doesn't move when he and Strong Bad sing, 'Deleted?' It's noticable before the Tandy's closeup. -Sumgirl

Mountain Dew Reference

When Homestar pours mountain dew on the floor - reference to when SB pours out a cold one for his peoples what got sent up the river?

No, a reference to what THAT was a reference to - as is noted, I believe. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 08:55, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Song and Dance man

Does anyone else think that this is a reference to Andy Kaufman, who would usually refer to himself as being just that, or is it an ordinary phrase in america? Lord-z 16:27, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Yeah it could be... But I think Andy Kaufman was referring more to the old timey "song and dance" men when he was using the phrase as an alternative to being considered a "comedian" which he loathed.

Missing Toe

Lappy says she wants to find her toe, and the two computers jump away... even though Strong Bad has had the toe all along because it was left with the ransom note in "cliffhangers."

Hush Puppies

Ok, so whats wrong with my post? Hush Puppies are a brand of shoe, so why can't I add it to the article? It still makes sense. :\ --Gerkuman 18:51, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

It's a lot more likely that it refers to the food thing, though. --DorianGray
I understand your agrument but that doesn't rule out the shoes. Computers can't eat OR wear shoes. I just think it's fair to add both. I admit I should've added it here for others to comment on it though, before adding it.--Gerkuman 18:57, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
"We can all go out for hushpuppies." "We can go out for food" is more likely than "we can go out for shoes". No one says "let's go out for shoes. You guys still like shoes, right?" --DorianGray
A lot of people like shoes and shop for shoes. It's certainly very possible. I think we should have a vote on it at least. --Gerkuman 19:08, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
"We can all go out for hushpuppies" is not the kind of phrase that you use when you shop for shoes. Also, The Paper says "I like hushpuppies". Note the lowercase. Loafing 19:17, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
I originally wrote the hushpuppy fact. I had on;y heard of the shoe myself, but after doing a little research, it was clear that if it's a reference to anything it's a reference to the food. Really, going out for Hush Puppies makes little sense, and as we see they don't split it into two capitalized words, it makes it even less likely the shoe is what's being referred to. Remember, when we cite references and explanations, we have to consider not just "does it have similarities" but more pointedly "is it likely this is what TBC had in mind here".
