Welcome!
Note: I've sized this welcome message down because I want to keep it, but I don't want to have to scroll down as far to get to my recent messages.
Welcome to the Homestar Runner Wiki! I wanted to extend a personal welcome, since I believe strongly that a Wiki should be a democratic and non-threatening place where everyone feels like they can contribute. Unfortunately it can be very frustrating at first if you make changes that are ignored or changed back by other users, but if so I encourage you to hang in there; as you get a feel for the way things are done around here you'll feel more at home. That was my experience, anyway!
If you need any help, feel free to ask anyone on the welcoming committee (like me!). You can also post questions on the FAQ talk page.
Here are some tips to get you started:
- If you need general information, editing tips, or answers to frequently asked questions, check out the help page.
- Before you do any significant editing, be sure to familiarize yourself with our wiki standards.
- Read up on the rules and guidelines for your user page. What you're reading right now, by the way, is the "Talk:" page that goes with your user page. It's a good way to communicate directly with specific users. The best way to respond, though, is on the same user page where the conversation was started. E.g. if you have a question, go to my user talk page and edit it, then watch my page (via Recent changes) for a response.
- If you're not sure what you can do to help out, head over to The Stick.
- If you're looking for more community interaction, you can also register over at our forum and get More Community Interaction Than You Or Your Grandmother Can Handle!
- Above all, be bold and have fun!
Feel free to delete this message when you're done reading it. (In general, it's frowned on to delete other people's input on talk pages, but this entry is just here to be helpful. When it's done being helpful, I guarantee you won't hurt my feelings by ditching it!)
Sincerely,
AbdiViklas and the rest of the welcoming committee (23:25, 14 October 2005 (UTC))
New HRwiki Page
Making the new wiki page has come up against a few (hopefully minor) roadblocks, your help would be very appreciated! --Stux 18:14, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
- Holy crap, they're trying to delete the page before it even exists! - Kookykman

- I think, mustering extra support for this is in order. BTW that was an uh... interesting comment you posted there. --Stux 21:23, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Edit summary discrepancy
Hey Kookykman. The edit summary on this edit reads "Accepted both revisions." However, you actually declined both revisions. Just so you know. By the way, if you really did mean to accept the fact, let me point out that you can currently only vote to accept one or the other, not both. And in that case, I should point out that the top one is the one with a chance. — It's dot com 22:02, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'll fix that tomorrow. I've got a Halloween party to go to right now. Thanks! - Kookykman
(t)(c)(r)
- Heh, it's a party with internet access. - Kookykman

- Those are the best kind. Not that I'd know, actually... --DorianGray
- I'm sorry to bother you again, but the edit summary of when you switched your vote read "Put original vote in wrong place." However, you actually switched your vote on the revision. The only reason I bring it up is because we're actually trying to eliminate the revision altogether since it's not that different from the original, and since it doesn't stand much of a chance of being accepted (especially compared to the original version). — It's dot com 15:45, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
- Well, I've really got this whole STUFF thing perfected, haven't I? Thanks for bringing it up. - Kookykman

STUFFing
Hey! Kookykman! Just wanted to drop you a line regarding STUFF. Firstly, the item you just STUFF'd has already gone through the process and was declined 17-2. The record is on the talk page. Also, for anonymous edits that are not so great (I know you liked that one), it is not necessary to immediately go to STUFF. If it constantly gets put up, then we can take care of it that way, but an IP "reach" fun fact can simply get the old Deltaco straightaway. Thanks for the time, see you around.

- Thanks. I did notice the previous STUFF landslide a bit too late. Even then, I figured that this one was in depth. Well, take car. - Kookykman
(t)(c)(r)
- On the other hand, there is the little-used ability to contest a fun fact... I've never been present for one, and the only one I recall was the infamous 'Change of Pace' fact. I'm not sure this one totally deserves the contesting, but it's worth looking into anyway. --DorianGray
- Although this one is a whole lot less infamous than "Change of Pace", I may like to contest this one, if it's not too impossible. - Kookykman

- Before you go making a fuss, I would like to say that making the fact include more information is not going to make people that don't think it's a reference change their mind. They will still feel there's no reference, and therefore decline the revision. Plus the only way to contest a fun fact is to find a flaw in the voting process, of which there was none. Just trying to save us all time.

Pewter Van Buren award
If someone wants to come along and spruce up my page a little bit, it'd be much obliged. In fact, I might award a Pewter Van Buren award for it. (P.S.: Would it be okay if I gave out a Pewter Van Buren every week or so to congratulate great contributions to the wiki?) - Kookykman
(t)(c)(r)
- you definately should. We could always use a new award. And yeah, I can "spruce" up your page. If you tell me what to put on. — talk Bubsty edits 23:50, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
Nicknames linkage?
Hi Kookykman - I noticed you backed out my changes on Nicknames for linking the toons and emails that Homestar has. Your comment was "no other character has this". Can you tell me what the other characters don't have? It looks like they all have links to the toons their nicknames came from. - KieferSkunk 22:34, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry, I RV'd the wrong change. Feel free to change it back, Kiefer. - Kookykman

Signature Recipes
Hi, it's me again. :) In response to your comment in my talk about our sigs: I actually modeled my sig after yours. I believe you've been here a lot longer than I have, and when I decided to do a sig of my own, I thought yours was the best one to base mine off of. Hope I didn't offend. :) —
