I don't have the episode handy, but I think the red-laser-blue-laser battle from the commercial may have specifically come from the episode "Captives of Cobra"... but, then, since I don't have an image handy, I'll just leave this here in case anyone else has any thoughts. - [[User:Taster's Choice|Taster's Choice]] 00:09, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Homestar's "Surprise surprise, Firebert" is evocative of "Surprise surprise, I'm Lando in disguise!" which was a pretty well-remembered/earwormy line from an old SW toy commercial. I can't know if TBC had it in mind for sure but I thought I'd mention it as a possible reference here. [[User:Guessed|Guessed]] 05:27, 26 January 2023 (UTC)

Ding! Cheat Commandos (toon) is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

[edit] Blue Laser or Lazer?

Laser is the proper acronym but this ain’t Free Country, USA. I don’t care either way but we should be consistent. Drhaggis 17:14, 14 Sep 2004 (MST)

It is Laser, not Lazer, as can be proved in Shopping for Danger when the Cheat Commandos get a 'Blue Las-alert'. EDY-innit 06:35, 17 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Cartoon vs. Concept

Now that there are so many Cheat Commando's cartoons I think maybe we should seperate the first cartoon from the concept, just like TGS has a seperate page from TGS episode 1. What say ye?

[edit] Closed STUFF

[edit] For the little 'uns (ACCEPTED)

All of the Cheat Commandos action figures are designed for ages "3 to 5".

  • Accept. It says "ages 3-5" quite clearly at the bottom right of each action figure package. Why was this STUFF-ed? -- tomstiff 02:43, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

    • Comment. Does this really need to be noted at all? I mean, it *is* right there on the package! I haven't changed my vote yet, but ... -- tomstiff 13:44, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • What? Undelete it! Undelete it! Do something! Do anything! *ahem* Accept. --Jay 06:23, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Oy. Come on, people...not every Fun Fact needs to be here. --ISlayedTheKerrek 15:29, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • I hate to be the one to do this when everyone else is accepting, but...SO? I mean, what's your point? Decline. --Kiwi 18:48, 28 Apr 2005
  • Accept but move to the package captions list at the bottom of that page. --phlip 20:27, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Page Title

Why was the page title named Compy 386!! if the cartoon has nothing to do with Strong Bad Emails??-Gordon 584

'Cause TBC goofed up. They've done it before, they just haven't corrected it here.

[edit] FoxFace

The name "Foxface" could also be a reference to the nickname of Major Margaret Houlihan (from the TV series M*A*S*H) who had the nickname of "Hotlips."

[edit] Superfriends

This summer, I visited my younger cousins house. He's really hung up on old cartoons and superheroes (he's nine, after all), and was watching the old 'Challenge of the Superfriends' first-season DVD. The theme song opening for that show showed the Superfriends marching across the screen, and some of the Superfriends walked past twice. I immediately thought of the Cheat Commandos sequence where much the same thing happens. --DorianGray

[edit] Page Move

I moved the page because it is clearly called "Cheat Commandos" on the website. - Joshua

Fair enough. — It's dot com

[edit] Fast Forward

A fast forward section should be added that mentions the clip "to protect the world from the evil forces of Blue Laser!" is replayed exactly as it is, in virus, except for the gun being replaced with homestar's leg. I have taken the liberty to change the link in virus to point to the toon itself, rather than the Cheat Commandos character page, as I beleive this to be more appropriate (and probably what was originally intended). --Stux 01:26, 26 Sep 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Remarks vs Goofs

I believe that the Cheat Commandos walking by twice should be considered a goof and that the "Action Figure Storage Vehicle" should be considered a remark. TBC must not have noticed the former, whereas the latter is a perfectly good alternate name for the vehicle.

Or it could be deliberate, as a reference/parody to old cartoons like Challenge of the Superfriends, like I said several entries above. --DorianGray

[edit] Cheat Commando toy template.

The spots "painted" on all the cheat commandos are the all the same except Firebert. He has his own unique spot design. (Ripberger's completely covered so we can't compare him to anyone else). Easiest way to spot this is compare Reynold to everyone else. I don't know what section this should go in.

[edit] Duplicate characters

in the scene where all of the Commandos are walking, there are two Gunhavers.

Yup. It's noted in the Remarks section of the article and on this talk page several times. — It's dot com 21:37, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Another G.I. Joe reference?

I don't have the episode handy, but I think the red-laser-blue-laser battle from the commercial may have specifically come from the episode "Captives of Cobra"... but, then, since I don't have an image handy, I'll just leave this here in case anyone else has any thoughts. - Taster's Choice 00:09, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
