Heavy Lourde
The Heavy Lourde doing what it does best.

The Heavy Lourde is a giant weight that gets dropped on various characters. In French, "lourde" means "heavy".

This gag is perhaps spoofing Monty Python's Flying Circus, which had a similar running gag (the weight said "16 TONS" on it, though).

The bilingual labeling on the weight may refer to the multi-lingual labeling of items required in Canada and becoming more prevalent in the United States since the advent of NAFTA. Labeling like this also occurs on Air France flights between the U.S. and France. When a bag is over a certain weight, a label is addded the bag saying "Heavy Lourde" on two lines in the same way it appears on the large weight.

In the FAQ, a similar weight (labeled "1 TON") appears in the activity on the last page. Also, in Teen Girl Squad Issue 4, What's Her Face is squashed by a similar weight reading "NO Pounds."
