Very often, a character will impersonate or dress up like another character, usually for a prank. (This list does not include Powered by The Cheat toons, in which it is assumed that The Cheat impersonates all the characters)

- Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 9.2: Homestar pretends to be Marzipan, Strong Sad, Strong Bad, Coach Z and himself on his fake message tape.
- Senorial Day: Homestar pretends to be Bubs' own "flesh and blood".
- TrogdorCon '97: Homestar dresses as himself at the convention.
- Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 3.0: Strong Bad prank calls Marzipan pretending to be her.
- Email impression: Homestar, Strong Bad, The Cheat and Homsar all compete in the Strong Sad Lookalike Contest.
- Shopping for Danger: Reynold pretends to be Gunhaver and pretends to do missions while the other Commandos are away.
