Puppet Homestar addresses the SXSW audience.

"A Sample of Style from the Homestar Runner Folks" was a live presentation given on March 14, 2005 at South by Southwest. The Brothers Chaps, joined by Ryan Sterritt, showed many things including footage of Puppet Homestar touring the Austin area that had been filmed earlier that same day.

The guys from HomestarRunner.com talk about their cartoons, their five years on the Internet, and show you a bunch of stuff you have never seen; including footage that they just shot at SXSW, like, today even. Puppet versions of their characters will no doubt stop by and insult you or your family. You can ask the boys questions and they will do their best to provide informative and clever answers. High fives for everyone!

AMANDA CONGDON: Okay, so we're here, at South by Southwest and we're about to see the Homestar Runner panel.

{Cut to Matt and Mike Chapman at desk with Homestar puppet}

MATT CHAPMAN: Um...We're the guys who make homestarrunner.com.

MIKE CHAPMAN: My name's Mike Chapman.

{Roaring applause from the crowd}

{Matt is holding a puppet version of Homestar}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Um, Mike? Are you ready to roll yet?

MIKE: I'm afraid not, my friend.

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Boooo.

MIKE: I dunno, I don't think it's going to happen. There's too much pressure. I've got too many files on this computer.

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Too many files.

MIKE: Too many files.

HOMESTAR RUNNER: You need to defrag.

{Audience laughter}

{Cut to a video on a projector screen. Puppet Homestar is with Mike overlooking a field.}

MIKE: Pretty amazing, this Texas...

{Homestar opening and closing mouth, audience laughter}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: I—I don't see much, Mike. Where's the By West?

{Audience laughter}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: The By West Show. That's what I'm in town for.

MIKE: South by Southwest?

HOMESTAR RUNNER: I don't know. It's called By West. I wanna — I wanna see some cool bands.

MIKE: You're not gonna see any cool bands.

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Nope?

MIKE: You're not.

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Why not?

MIKE: Well...

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Did you forget to get tickets?

MIKE: We did forget to get tickets.

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Crap. Oh well, By West. We'll do our best.

{Cut to Homestar Runner on top of a building overlooking a city.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Everybody's...got hair! They put products in their hair! They're all...dressed real cool! I'm not dressed cool at all! I wear the same shirt, every day! {Deep breath} Ah! Boston!

{Audience laughter}

HOMESTAR RUNNER:The annual By West Boston Clam-Bake!

{Audience laughter}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Let's do it! Let's do it up! {leaning over building ledge} GREETINGS BOSTON!!! {unintelligible} WE'RE STAYING ALIVE!!! ...This town's dead, man. {exits left off screen}

{Cut to Matt with Homestar puppet with Amanda Congdon who is comically kissing Homestar puppet}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Wow. I'm— I'm leavin' Marzipan.

{Amanda hugs Homestar puppet}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Wha-? Oh, hi! Thanks. Where's...the rest of the chicks?

AMANDA CONGDON: Um...There's some over there...We have lots of chicks fans!

OFFSCREEN MAN: This is a geek conference, man...

AMANDA CONGDON: Homestar—

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {to the offscreen man} I know.

AMANDA CONGDON: Homestar, all the chicks love you, why don't they wear your T-shirt?

HOMESTAR RUNNER: I don't know! You're not wearing my T-shirt.

AMANDA CONGDON: No.

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Yeah. What's the deal??

AMANDA CONGDON: {laughing} Sorry!

• At this presentation, viewers were shown similar material to that seen at the NYU Talk which occurred two weeks prior on March 1.
• SXSW functions as three parallel conferences, centered around film, interactive media, and music. This panel was included under the "SXSW Interactive" banner.

• While Homestar usually wears the same shirt every day, there are quite a few exceptions to this rule. In the Strong Bad Email caper, for example, he is wearing a shirt from the store, and he has worn many different shirts throughout the holiday toons.
