Just want to start the vote, since anonny made this change to the transcript and I was surprised to find that I can hear either word depending on which I'm listening for: do you hear "and" or "that" [his cannon is a mouth]? Lira (talk) 02:29, 18 January 2020 (UTC)

After listening to the line 200 times in a row, I'm experiencing the same thing as you. It changes depending on what I'm listening for. Confused by this outcome, I decided to break down the line a bit.

Due to the unclear, almost slurred way he is singing, "alarmed __ his" sounds like "alarmedad his". The point where "alarmed" ends and the next word begins is unclear, so it can be heard as "alarmed dad his" ("alarmed that his", with th and t pronounced as ds) or "alarmed ad his" ("alarmed and his", with the d sounding like an n due to its slurred nature).

When I try to hear "that", it sounds ever-so-slightly clearer, and makes slightly more sense in context (not that sense-make counts for anything in Homestar Runner, of course). So I'm leaning the slightest bit toward "that". Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 22:53, 18 January 2020 (UTC)

My main complaint with transcribing Skills of an Artist in general is that it's usually improvised and not rehearsed, edited or mixed, so Strong Bad ends up talking in a very mumbly, ungrammatical stream-of-consciousness way that's tough to listen closely to, much less to attempt transcribing. Agreed. I played that section a few times and heard "that" as well. It was slightly mumbled but I'm pretty sure I heard a brief "th" in there and definitely heard the "t" at the end. --Stux 15:36, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

I wouldn't say "and" makes no sense. If there's two things I know about Cannonmouth, it's that he seems kind of alarmed, and his cannon is a mouth. Mouth is a cannon, I mean. But we seem to have consensus over "that". Lira (talk) 16:09, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
