Hi RickTommy. Your recent single-letter edit summaries on images (as well as some others in the recent past) are not descriptive of the edits you are making. Yes, I'm aware that put all together they spell "cleanup" backwards, but image summaries are for page histories first, and recent changes a distant second. Someone looking at a page history 5 years from now is not going to have a clue what "u" means in this context. Please stick to just "Image summary cleanup" for these edit summaries and don't try to get creative. Thanks. 23:43, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

*He is clearly seen talking in several Mario games, most notably Super Mario World and Super Mario 64.

(Yes, I'm aware that they are anagrams, or pig latin, or phonetic spellings of letters, or various other bastardizations of the proper summary, but that doesn't make them proper summaries themselves.) In addition, a few of your other recent summaries are a little too "creative" to be clearly understood at a glance. I know it's not as interesting, but for the sake of the other editors, please stick to just the plain old "Image summary cleanup" as your description from now on. 02:57, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

::So, edit summaries.  Yeah. Looking at your contributions page many of your edit summaries are blank with the exception of some the Image Summary cleanup edit summaries.  Being somewhat consistent with the Image Summary Cleanup summaries is good but edit help other editors know at a glance what it is that your edits are changing.  So please be more diligent with your edit summaries to make things easier for other editors.  Thank you. --Stux 05:44, 23 May 2015 (UTC)

Hey man. Yeah...I know it's been a while but if feel really bad about the way I treated you way back then. I used to be Wasd98 in case you were wondering. I was 14 back then and really stupid. I wanted to make a difference on this wiki and I thought acting like a sysop or whatever would make that happen but I just ended annoying people and I'm truly sorry. Hi RickTommy. Your new signature is too long and the yellow text is unreadable. Please fix it. See HRWiki:SIG if you have any questions. Thanks! — It's dot com 00:49, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Hey RickTommy, you've done a lot of good work lately with the image summary cleanup. Thanks for your help. Would you mind going through and marking which ones you've done on these pages? 05:43, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

:I've also noticed that while editing the summaries, sometimes you've been marking useful H*R-related images for deletion if the bottom of the page says "There are no pages that link to this file." This is not always accurate, and you need to double-check with the "What links here" link on the left side of the screen to make sure. If it still says no pages link to it, it's probably in a page history, which is typically easy to dig for. You wouldn't want to find an archive with an unfortunate situation like <!--which was a case of two people uploading the same image at the same time, and the one that was uploaded a minute later was of better quality-->. I wouldn't point this out except I've come behind you several times now and found where the images are/were used on the wiki. If it's not H*R-related, and it's not in a page history, maybe then it'd be all right to add that tag. Thanks again for your help with the summaries. 07:30, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

We have asked you repeatedly not to police the wiki. This means telling other users what to do or how to do it. You simply do not seem to have the knack for when it is appropriate. We've asked you to play fair on the featured article selection page, not to edit others' comments, and not to swear in edit summaries. Yet, things aren't getting better. We don't seem to be getting through to you at all, even after you were blocked for two weeks for disruption. So, I'm going to block you three weeks. Furthermore, I think it would be best if you stayed away from the featured article selection for at least a month. 20:48, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

:::You know, Wasd, your behaviour isn't exactly that great either. For one thing, you posted that comment in the first place, despite the fact that it does not belong on that page. For another, you have posted messages in talk page archives, as you have done with my talk page as well as Heimstern's. For another, you warn users about things that they did months ago. For another, you do that to users who haven't edited for months. For another, you post signature length messages on other users' talk pages, despite the fact that 1) you shouldn't expect a response from those users, since they haven't edited for months, and 2) the signature length may only apply to your computer. And for another, you're enforcing policy by doing some of those things. I have been blocked before for trying to enforce policy, so don't be surprised if you end up being blocked as well if you continue doing that sort of stuff. 06:00, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

RickTommy, has it ever occurred to you that others might genuinely prefer the new format? People aren't praising it to annoy you; they're just expressing their honest opinions, which is entirely within their rights to do. Of course, it's also in your rights to disagree with it, but your constantly complaining about people who like the new system is annoying and is quickly becoming unacceptably hostile, especially with edit summaries like this one. However, while i'm not saying that anything here specifically annoys me or doesn't, I'm gonna give you a few pointers.<br>I noticed that you added that it annoyed you "When a user creates a new article and links to that article on every page that mentions it" shortly after I linked everything I could find to a new page that I didn't make. I was thinking, "but isn't this good practice?" It's okay; there have been times that good practice has annoyed me too. (See Talk:Compé)<br>The thing about Strong Mad being older than Strong Bad: yes, that is a known fact. and i have a little brother who is taller and heavier than I am, so i know where you're coming from there. And by the logic displayed on your user page, Strong Sad should be older than both of them. He is known to be the youngest of the three.<br>And the new Featured Article selection format: For example, "People praise it on purpose (much like those guys who said they liked Youtube's Beta Channels to annoy the thousands of users who absolutely disliked them)": in addition to what Heimstern has said two sections up, last i checked, we had more users who have a "Things that annoy me" section on their user page than we did complaining about the new FA selection format. So i'm sorry to say, but i don't think that's a valid comparison. And I've noticed that you've been pointing out that you're suggesting an article for the second time. The way the new format works, they won't ever need to be suggested again (or that's the way i understand it). Honest question: do you like that aspect of the format?<br>In short, I guess I would be more comfortable with that section of your user page if it was less inclusive. but don't let me tell you how to shape your user page; you don't have to change a thing based on what I said if you don't want to. 08:04, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

:Now you're annoyed by the fact that one of the most incredibly useful exclusive features of the wiki exists? I find it very convenient (and evidently, everyone whose edits you linked to probably does too). Are you on Wikia? I've actually tried linking that way there, but it doesn't work, and it doesn't work on Wikipedia. And frankly, i think this logo is awesome. After all, it's still Trogday within six months' precision. I'd like to encourage you to loosen up a bit. Don't let things get to you, and don't take everything so seriously. Have a lighter attitude about the situations. You'll probably enjoy it more here. Just a suggestion. Also, please tell me you saw this edit summary coming. btw, what bothers you about that? it's a very helpful tool that I wish other wikis would use. Incidentally, i often try to make my edit summaries enjoyable, but the one you list as your favorite edit summary wasn't necessarily one of them; i was just citing the second time "oldie" had been said per custom on that page. i'm glad you liked it though 04:57, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

RickTommy, given your recent message to that anonny, it seems I need to remind you that you are not allowed to police the wiki. In this case, yet again, it was not an appropriate message: it was vague (it didn't explain clearly what, if anything, was wrong with the anonny's edits) and was not really that accurate a representation of policy (saying "there's probably a reason we don't have those facts" would more or less imply "don't add facts to articles", which is not proper representation of policy at all). So I'm reminding you to not do this again. 12:45, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey there RickTommy, I've noticed that lately you've had a tendency to make very large edits to pages, which combine removing, adding, modifying, and re-ordering entries in a way that it makes the edit diff very difficult to follow. In addition, your edit summaries tend to mention at most only one out of the dozens of changes being made, and sometimes none at all. A better approach would be to make several smaller edits that are easier for others to follow. For example, if there is a list that has 3 items you want to add, several items not in chronological order, two items that you don't think should be there, and 5 items that need rewording, formatting, or links added, it's probably better to make four or five edits rather than just one, as follows:
 +
#Reordering the existing list (without removing, adding, or changing anything) with an edit summary saying such
 +
#Rewording or formatting the existing entries with an edit summary indicating exactly what you're changing and why
 +
#Adding the three facts that you want to add with an edit summary describing what you're adding
 +
#Removing the first fact you want to remove with a very detailed explanation of why you think that thing should be removed
 +
#A separate edit with a separate detailed edit summary on why you're removing the second thing
 +
I know that at this point you're probably thinking "but making multiple consecutive edits to the same page is frowned upon, that's what show preview is for". While that's true in most cases, it's not true in the case of large amounts of unrelated changes to the same page. In general, the "avoid consecutive edits" guideline is referring to multiple edits being made to the same area of a page, such as tweaking the formatting of something several times. On the other hand, if several unrelated edits need to be made to a page, multiple edits are actually preferred. Anyway, I hope that helps for the future. 15:41, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

By the way, as annoying and frustrating as it may be for a new user to flood the recent changes, there is no rule against it. It is out custom to discourage it, but that's not the same thing as a rule. Since floods bother you so much, I have enabled enhanced recent changes in your preferences, which consolidates all changes to one page into a collapsible (and ignorable) section. Obviously if it's not to your liking you can turn it back off, but I encourage you to give it a try. In your preferences you can also increase the default number of changes you see. When viewing the recent changes page, you can hide all changes in a specific namespace (like the ). &mdash; 18:32, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi, RickTommy. It's not appropriate to use your userpage to disparage other users, here or at the forum. So you're going to need to remove the content about the forum users "TwiceStyle" and "HSR3Ever85" from your list of HRWiki-related things that annoy you. <p> While I'm here: Is there a reason you need to have such a long list of things that annoy you on your page? It seems really unnecessarily negative, in fact, people might wonder why you even edit here if you have around a third of your userpage devoted to things that annoy you. Maybe you might think about trimming it down a bit or removing it? Just a thought (though the removal of the content disparaging other users is required). 06:47, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, but your page didn't qualify. I did check and, indeed, In Search of the Yello Dello Old Version had a C-Major scale. However, Marzipan's Character Video  had an E-Major scale, and New Hands didn't have a major scale at all (among other things, major scales have eight notes; Strong Bad only sang five each direction). What's more, the song from mascot, in addition to not being a scale, was in F Major, not A Minor - and even if it was A Minor (which, admittedly, is the minor key most similar to C Major), I don't see the merit in listing the key every song is in. 07:36, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Typically, discussions are where we discuss articles, not just throwing <s>maps to the restroom</s> <span style="color:green">single-phrase declarations</span> into the crowd. Your recent "flood" of opinions are all just opinions on WHAT you think should be done with the article, but give no hint as to WHY, which doesn't really help anyone. To gain consensus, it's important for people to give a well thought-out opinion about an article's merits. You'll notice, for example, on Talk:Balloons, that everybody everybody, (beginning with myself,) made compelling arguments why the article should not stay. Coming along and simply saying "keep" without giving a reason opposite to what the rest of us have been saying is quite unlikely to do anything but be ignored. Consensus is not a vote. It's a general understanding among those involved about what the opinions are and what makes the most sense. Hope that helps! 16:09, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for hastily reverting your delete tags a few minutes ago; I didn't realize until i was halfway through with the last one that you were half-right to put them there. But like I said in the last edit summary, the delete tag was displayed on the main page because it checks for a daily before checking for a weekly. There are practical reasons for this. And having the delete tag on the main page looks really tacky. I think you're right that we don't need the daily redirects, but if they are in use even as redirects, it's counter-productive to change them to the deletion template. :A little bit of information about my 2023 prank: Following my own prior advice to Gfdgsgxgzgdrc, I did not make a suggestion as to what the wiki should do for April Fool's Day in 2018, and instead changed my user page to the theme I wanted the wiki to use when the time came. Then the wiki didn't use the theme, and I guess I decided to just leave my user page Yonder Website-themed. (Although I noticed at some point that the new fanstuff wiki did use that theme, but I don't think I had anything to do with that &mdash; nor did I care one way or the other for them to do that.) Then this year, I decided to stack two April Fool's jokes that I had previously put together &mdash; using the 2012 tactic on the 2018 page. And my edit summary for the April 1 edit to my user page translates to "stacking previous jokes for this year". I think there is information about the numbers prank on your user page right now. So it's pretty pointless for you to vent your frustration to those of us who have to read your negative edit summary and who didn't have anything to do with it. More importantly, why did it need to be vented in the first place? Redundant piping is not a big deal. The person who added it may not have been aware it was redundant. And regardless, it took all of what, less than a minute to fix? And this is not exactly an isolated incident. [edit] Edit summaries

Thanks. — Defender1031*Talk 23:43, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

Seems like I need to remind you again. Many of your recent edits don't consist of either the words "Image Summary Cleanup" or the acronym "ISC". — Defender1031*Talk 02:57, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
So, edit summaries.

[edit] Image Summaries

Hey RickTommy, you've done a lot of good work lately with the image summary cleanup. Thanks for your help. Would you mind going through and marking which ones you've done on these pages? The Knights Who Say Ni 05:43, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

I've also noticed that while editing the summaries, sometimes you've been marking useful H*R-related images for deletion if the bottom of the page says "There are no pages that link to this file." This is not always accurate, and you need to double-check with the "What links here" link on the left side of the screen to make sure. If it still says no pages link to it, it's probably in a page history, which is typically easy to dig for. You wouldn't want to find an archive with an unfortunate situation like this. I wouldn't point this out except I've come behind you several times now and found where the images are/were used on the wiki. If it's not H*R-related, and it's not in a page history, maybe then it'd be all right to add that tag. Thanks again for your help with the summaries. [edit] Breaking up large edits

 1. Reordering the existing list (without removing, adding, or changing anything) with an edit summary saying such
 2. Rewording or formatting the existing entries with an edit summary indicating exactly what you're changing and why
 3. Adding the three facts that you want to add with an edit summary describing what you're adding
 4. Removing the first fact you want to remove with a very detailed explanation of why you think that thing should be removed
 5. A separate edit with a separate detailed edit summary on why you're removing the second thing

I know that at this point you're probably thinking "but making multiple consecutive edits to the same page is frowned upon, that's what show preview is for". While that's true in most cases, it's not true in the case of large amounts of unrelated changes to the same page. If you simply scroll down to the end of the page you'll see that answered questions go in their section. So please don't be so quick to delete things and also keep in mind DeFender's good advice which is actually a wiki guideline albeit not explained with the level of detail that DeFender did, which it should be. [edit] Since you asked

A little bit of information about my 2023 prank: Following my own prior advice to Gfdgsgxgzgdrc, I did not make a suggestion as to what the wiki should do for April Fool's Day in 2018, and instead changed my user page to the theme I wanted the wiki to use when the time came. Then the wiki didn't use the theme, and I guess I decided to just leave my user page Yonder Website-themed. (Although I noticed at some point that the new fanstuff wiki did use that theme, but I don't think I had anything to do with that — nor did I care one way or the other for them to do that.) Then this year, I decided to stack two April Fool's jokes that I had previously put together — using the 2012 tactic on the 2018 page. And my edit summary for the April 1 edit to my user page translates to "stacking previous jokes for this year". I think there is information about the numbers prank on your user page right now. Although it was much easier to put it together the second time. But this time, I noticed that the translator I used wasn't perfect with some of the longer words. I might have to change some of it. I'm not sure if this answers all your questions. The Knights Who Say Ni 21:13, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
