[edit] Attribution

Hey there, Apology. I am flattered with your use of my code in your userpage. However, through the wiki's creative commons license, in order for you to use it, I must inform you how to attribute the work. It would be great if you could just put this tag at the top of your page:

{| style="margin-left:1em;width:100%;border:#99B3FF solid 1px;clear:right;background:#FFFFFF;"
|-
| style="text-align:center;" | <big><big>'''NOTICE:'''</big></big>
|-
| style="width:100%;text-align:center;" |
'''This page's source code was originally created by ''[[User:Lapper|Lapper]]''.
Work may not be distributed without this notice.'''
|}

In addition, your signature appears to be explicitly coded from mine. In order to use this code, please enter this code into it.

'''''Coded by — {{User:Lapper/sig}}'''''

Thank you very much for your consideration. — Lapper (talk) 02:41, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Hang on a sec. Where, exactly, is she supposed to put that attribution for the signature? The code itself seems simple enough that someone could figure it out with just a few pointers. Also, do you want her to spell "distributed" like you have it up there or the right way? ;) — It's dot com 03:53, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
To answer the question, at the top of her page and within her signature, respectively. As for the second part, it is the responisbility of the creator in the first place to inform the distributor of proper attribution. For the last part, thank you for pointing out the spelling error. — Lapper (talk) 03:58, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Apologies, Apology, for chatting it up on your page. What I mean, Lapper, is that I don't have a problem with your taking credit for the table (after all, you worked long and hard on it), but the signature seems simple enough that someone might design the exact same thing spontaneously (I'm not saying that happened in this case, just that it could). And by including that code, your name will show up every time she signs. Or did you intend for it to be in an invisible comment or something? — It's dot com 04:04, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Well, Dot com, it possible could happen that someone could choose "Copperplate", then model the sigature in likeness to mine without any knowledge, but as you said, this is not the case here. I'm not sure of the reliability of <noinclude>, but simply keeping it in the signature page alone is fine. — Lapper (talk) 04:13, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Alright guys. I've changed the font on my signature from Copperplate to Trebuchet MS. And also, thanks for posting in here. I had typed something longer before but then it got erased because there was a conflict. - Apology (talk • gmail)

Thank you, Apology, for taking action with your signature. Now for your user page. — Lapper (talk) 04:21, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Well, I've added that notice on the top of my userpage. Thanks for letting me use your code. - Apology (talk • gmail) 11:25 EST, 28 January 2006

[edit] Apology accepted

I also want to extend a note of welcome. Welcome! I'm curious, though. Why "Apology"? Your user page doesn't offer any hints. Well, talk atcha later! — It's dot com 03:09, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm eager to know too. Good job on the innovation. Seriously (Talk)
Well, I just really wanted to be unique. It was the first thing that came into my head. - Apology (talk • gmail)
