Category talk:Events

[edit] Purpose
So, are we gonna use this or what?
It actually makes sense that the Battle of Strong Badia was an event, but so far it's the only one. These may be hard to come by but I might be able to think of others (like the 2005 Fall float parade and maybe the virus attack, though the latter is the name we give it and might not count). To be clear, to me an event would be an occurrence of something of great significance either to the lives of the H*R Universe characters or something they deem to be of great importance. This is still kinda vague since "occurrence" and the level of "importance" should be more precisely defined. --Stux 04:22, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
- I dunno... To be honest, I only put it on the Zombie Uprising page coz I couldn't think of anything better, and in the vain hope it was an existant category. No such luck. I left it mostly because A) I'm lazy, 2) the page was probably going to be deleted, and D) if it turned out to be a desireable category, I'd be a hero. But I still can't think of anything to add to it now. Somehow, I thought "Events" would be more occur...ant (is "occurant" a word?) in H*R, but they don't really seem to be. Oh, well. Maybe in the future. --DorianGray 05:06, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
- Heh, and now, to top it off, I can't think of a category to put THIS category in. --DorianGray 22:06, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
- First off, occurent isn't a word. Second, I don't think there's much to go into it. We don't really make pages over events. In reality, all of the toons are kind of like events. The time Strong Bad went to jail, the time Homestar swallowed a bug, the time the StrongBadAhtlon 2007 (Or was it aught six?) was held. In my opinion, I think the only thing that goes into it is this battle, which, I guess to me is okay. Bluebry 22:19, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well, it would make little sense if it's the only thing, but then again it would make sense to leave it open for other "events". I think perhaps we can limit this to somewhat "historical" events, like battles, conferences, conventions, holidays, etc. Perhaps we could then add: Fall Float Parade, TrogdorCon '97, A Decemberween Pageant (maybe), A Jumping Jack Contest (perhaps), The Homestar Runner Enters the Strongest Man in the World Contest, and maybe, just maybe Halloween Fairstival, Halloween_Potion-ma-jig, and other Halloween thingys. I just realized, that given the vague nature of the word "Event", and that a narrow definition would apply to very few toons, but a broad definition would apply to many, that we could place this category in the
Main CategoryToon Category and then taylor specific subcategories (such as "meetings", "character debuts", etc.) to other types of events. How does that sound? --Stux 02:03, 19 March 2007 (UTC)- We could put Category:Performances in this category, maybe... --DorianGray 02:06, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
