Guestbook

Hey HeyMama, I notice you have a guestbook on your user page. Under HRWiki guidelines, users are not allowed to have guestbooks on their user pages. For more information about what you can and can't have on your user page, see this page. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif 00:05, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

User boxes and user tennis ball cans

Hey, I think I fixed your userbox. (Seems it doesn't like having spaces at the ends of lines.) And I was also going to mention the guestbook, but Venusy beat me to it. I'd recommend reading up on that second link he provided to see why we put that policy in place, since it could (hopefully!) have some bearing on how you relate to other users. (By the way, your username amuses me; for some reason it makes me think of Johny Bravo.) —AbdiViklas 00:17, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Shout! Shout! Let it all out...

Thanks for your help with my userbox! And for the friendly reminder. Gimmie a shout on my usrepage! HeyMama

Um—here's a shout. {shouts} But seriously, thank you for responding so helpfully and cheerfully. Actually, there's still kind of a problem with the change you made. If you have insomnia or something you can read through the entire discussion about the guestbooks to see why, but one of the motivations for shutting them down was that before their use, pretty much the only person editing a user page was its owner, so vandalism was easier to spot. At the end of the whole discussion, this remained a bottom line, "you should not encourage people to edit your user page, for any reason." That's what this talk page is for! So I'd suggest changing it to something like this:
If you have any questions, or want to exchange E-Mails, gimme a shout [[User talk:HeyMama|here]]
... that'll provide a link to this page.
One other detail: in the interests of keeping conversations in the same place, the convention is to reply on whoever's user page the conversation started on (that's why I moved your initial post over to here). The idea is that the first person will watch the other's page to see if he or she replies. Of course, in this case I'm kind of killing my own argument since 1) I probably wouldn't have noticed if you'd replied here, and 2) if I were really following that to the letter I would have put all this on my page! So in other words, if you think the person isn't noticing, or wouldn't notice, your reply, feel free to leave something on their talk page. —AbdiViklas 05:50, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
