Can't see template

I'm trying to figure out what your recent edit to The Stick did. — It's dot com

Maybe it was just my computer, but I couldn't see some of the template, the box was covering it. But now that I look at the history, it's fine. Maybe it was at the moment that that I looked at it, or my window way a ceratain way. Funny.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 00:25, 19 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Washed out

The image you just uploaded (and some others) look washed out, especially where you can see The Paper. What's the deal with that? — It's dot com P.S. I see that the dumb Cardinals won the division again. ;) — It's dot com 01:36, 21 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Okay, I am not sure. Currently I have a Macintosh Computer running on version 10.2.8. To make images, I do the following:

 1. I go to the .swf version of what ever toon it is.
 2. I make a .pdf of it
 3. I put the .pdf into Apple Works version 6.2.4 and convert it into a .png
 4. I make the image so it is under the 100k standards and upload it.

Sometimes, the image doesn't fit the window, so I'll make it smaller and so it is within the standards. Sometimes in the process of making it fit in the window, it washes it out. When I started making images, (example: most of the ss getting hurt pics) I would use power point and convert it into a .png. When I knew about the standards I used Apple works. When I try and make the image the same size as the .pdf, the file size is huge. Like, 500k! I'm confused. Can you help? P.S. Yeah, what did the rangers do? ;) --minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 01:55, 21 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Wow, that's a lot of steps. When I press Command+Shift+4, my cursor turns into a crosshairs. By clicking and dragging across a retangular area, I can capture part of the screen (you can also capture the whole screen by pressing Command+Shift+3). The resulting file is saved on the desktop. The file should already be in PNG format. I captured an image about the size of a H*R screen, and the file size was only 44 KB. Let me know whether this helps. — It's dot com 03:03, 21 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I do the cmd+shift+4 and it comes up as a pdf. I just made a pdf of the index screen it's self and it is 68kb. Then, I converted it into a png and it is 104kb! On one of my friends little newer macs I tryed the cmd+shift+4 and it came up as a png. I am still not sure why all this happens. Is it because of my operating system? I don't know. P.S. I already knew about the cmd+shift+4, but i'm surprised about the file results.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 03:13, 21 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I have searched my help files with no luck as to why it's saving it as a PDF. Obviously, you have some setting set weird, but I don't know where to tell you to look. As a workaround, you might try using Grab (Applications→Utilities). That should save it as a TIFF. You might also try Picture Viewer to convert it to a PNG. — It's dot com 03:31, 21 Sep 2005 (UTC)

To compare the grab with the pdf. I made a pdf and tiff of about the same thing from the fluffy puff mashmallows commercial. The pdf is 52 kb. The tiff is 104kb. I made pngs from both of them. The one I made with the pdf with out reszing it is 92kb. The one with the tiff is 76kb. That's kinda wierd.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 22:20, 21 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Indeed. — It's dot com

Thanks for the help! It's almost easier to use the tiff thing.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 22:37, 21 Sep 2005 (UTC)

quiz thingy

good job on finding my secret page. It's not very hard. Yeah, I'll pay you when I'm a really famous writer and have like, 2 billion bucks. Nice job on the quiz. Of course, I'm guessing you went to the "i love u" page to try and find the answer to question # 8. --— talk Bubsty edits 02:23, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Umm.. no. I just guessed :-D!!--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 02:25, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Text Colors. (Thanks but I just needed the wiki code)

I am fully aware of the #(color) but I wasn't sure how to use it to change the color of the text. I went back and figured out how to do it on my own. I realized that I didn't just need <color: #99FF00> but I also needed the, size: 100%. Thanks anyways. =D

But, how do I make a sig that I can use on the wiki. I know how to make it, but I dont know how to put it on the wiki. Do I have to post the sig manually, or is it like the ~~~~?

Arrow'd 02:43, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Well, first, you make User:Arrow'd/sig. Then, make your preferences look exactly like this:

asig1vc.jpg
Then, save your preferences, and your done! Then, you can do the four tildes thing and it will appear.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 02:57, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Antmated Gifs help

http://angelfire.gifworks.com/

It is very easy to make the text. Even if you make a mistake, you can just edit the url adress to make changes. To rermove those annoying 's, just take away the %27 around the text in the url.

For example, if I make mine to say bannana it will make the text as 'banana'. So just go to the url and take out the bold

%27banana%27

so 'banana' will now be banana

You need to save it to your computer and upload it to www.imageshack.us

Oh! Thanks arrow'd!!--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 00:49, 28 Sep 2005 (UTC)

sig rederect

Why when ever there is my old sig name thing, it says that it's a rederect. Can this be fixed?--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk·contribs) 17:54, 9 October 2005 (UTC)

Redirecting your sig doesn't seem to work either. I don't know if you did it manually, or if it redirected along with your userpage move, but in any case, It looks like you'll have to leave User:bkmlb/sig just how it is. You could edit it in tandem with your new sig page whenever, or even continue linking to it in your preferences page. I don't see how that could hurt at all. But Redirecting leaves ugly text, and doesn't even make the sig appear. I switched your sig pages back for you, as well. If you want, you could probably update the links at User:bkmlb/sig so that clicking on your old sig will link directly to your new userpage. Thunderbird 17:56, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
EDIT: Oh good, you already updated the links. Then the only thing further you can do is leave your sig subpage at your old username, and leave that link in your preferences, or make a new sig subpage at User:Bkmlb/sig and link to that. That would mean if you ever edit your sig, any sigs left before your new username would remain unchanged. Thunderbird 18:01, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Thanks Thunderbird! How can I make it so it isn't like --minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 18:02, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Preferences, I think. Check 'Raw signatures' right beside your Nickname (sig) box. Thunderbird 18:05, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Oh, DUH! I didn't even notice that. Thanks so much for your help!--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 18:08, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
No problem. Lots of people's sigs got messed up the same way back when that box first appeared, at the last Media Wiki upgrade. Mine and FireBird's were some of them. If you look around at talk more than nine or ten months old, you'll still see the same sig glitches left by me and him. Thunderbird 18:12, 9 October 2005 (UTC)

Welcome template

Hey! Looks like you have to deal pretty regularly with vandalism to your welcome template. Actually, it's not surprising, because when a new user sees your message with a little "edit" link above and clicks it, he/she is editting your template directly. Being new to the wiki, though, he/she thinks he/she (okay, from now on she's a she!) is editting her own user page; I made the same mistake myself. I fixed it on my own template with the __NOEDITSECTION__ magic word, which hides the "edit" link. That's two underscores, before and after; just drop into the top of your template. —AbdiViklas 01:43, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Thanks notsostrong-Abdi ;)! I as just going to ask someone it I some make it so it was like that. People have been editing that alot, and BazookaJoe and It's dot com have been reverting it every time. So, thanks to them and you Viklas-bad ;)I like your new username--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 02:07, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Actually, BK, that's not a viable solution. If you add that code to your welcome page, then they won't be able to edit any of the sections on their pages. What you need to do is substitute the template on their talk pages so that the code itself is copied, not a link. This is the format to do that: . — It's dot com 02:10, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Wait, I'm confused what you mean. Should I just copy the text and post that there instead of the template?--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 02:15, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
Thats the way I have been doing it. No problems yet. Rogue Leader / (my talk) 02:21, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
Heheh—removing "noedit" from my own template now. Yeah, I had mistaken the cause of Bkmlb's malady, and so had a faulty diagnosis. Yeah, Bkmlb, just type exactly what It's dot com said into the welcomee's talk page, and it'll auto-fill-in the contents of your welcome template. It'll still have a little "edit" link, but they will in fact be editting their own page. —AbdiViklas 02:24, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Not in the Cards

bkmlb - I know we've chatted briefly before - if the Cards lose tonight, I'm sorry. My Yanks already went down in flames (I knew they would), but your guys still have a chance. They're better than the 'Stros, so maybe they can pull off the upset. Anyway, the baseball season is way too long for a five and seven game series that determines the World Series contestants...for what it's worth, go Cards. THE SMOKING MONKEY 01:16, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for the encuragement. And OH what a game!! With 2 strikes on Eckstien in the Bottom of the 9th, he pokes a single past Ensberg and right by Everett. Them, Lidge Walks Edmonds. Here comes Pujols. He just smoked that pitch off of that glass wall and then it bounced onto the train tracks. Wow. I was crying of happiness and screaming my head off. As for the Yankees, I'm sorry. I thought that they might be able to pull it it out. The White Sox AL Champs. The Cardinals just have to concentrate on winning Game 6. And if we win that, then focus on Game 7. Take it one game at a time, and as Tony LaRussa says,"Go out and play a hard nine....(they have t-shirts of that you know)--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 12:35, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

It's a good thing the roof was closed on Minute Maid Park, otherwise Pujols's moonshot wouldn't have even landed yet. I couldn't believe it. I simply could not believe it. In the span of under 10 seconds, over 43,000 went from absolute jubilation to utter dispair. As it turns out, though, that blast was merely a hiccup on the way to the Astros' eventual Game 6 win, as the Cards just seemed to fold under Oswalt's pitching. For what it's worth, that blown call in the 5th didn't cost you any runs, in my opinion, or at most it only cost you one run. Of course, it's impossible to say that what followed that play would have followed it otherwise, but the next three hitters hit into a sac fly, struck out, and popped out, and so they wouldn't have scored any more runs under that scenario even with the bases loaded and nobody out. The Astros were all over Mulder, who has now lost at least three elimination games. Who are you rooting for in the Series? Being from Texas, I'm rooting for the 'Stros, but I like the White Sox and will be happy for them should they win. I also feel for The Smoking Monkey, since I'm a Yankee fan as well. By the way, Dave, why do you say you knew the Yankees would go down in flames? If not for that freak collision–triple, I think the Pinstripers would have won that game and consequently that series. — It's dot com 12:31, 21 October 2005 (UTC)
Well, Ben, I've followed the Bombers casually for two decades, seriously for the last 14 of those years. Despite being a skeptic, I do place a lot of value on gut feelings, and my gut told me on the day the clinched the division title, "Dave, the Yankees don't have it in them." I didn't know how it would happen, or when, but I simply knew they were destined to flame out, and flame out they did. Not in the sense of a horrific 0-3 sweep, but in the sense of ultimately not making the grade. This was not one of the better Yankee teams to make the playoffs; plenty of talent, but no heart. :( — THE SMOKING MONKEY16:06, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
Ah! Friggin Oswalt. He really deserved the MVP, shutting us down the way he did. I knew it was over when I think in the sixth where that ball bounced in front of Edmonds and then hopped away from him that things were going the Astros way. It's kind of ironic the way the Cards and Red Sox seasons ended. Last year, Renteria made the last out to give the Red Sox their first world seires in 86 years. This year, while playing for the Sox, he made the last out to end their season. At the end of the World Seires last year they were talking about us needing another solid starting pitcher, who turned out to be Mark Mulder. He started game 6 and lost, a game when we got him, he was supposed to win. Like my dad has said almost his whole life:"I guess we just don't have the pitching." About Albert's homerun-that was amazing. For the first time in my life I literally cried of happiness. And it wasn't a cheap Minute Maid homerun either, it was a 412 foot moonshot, probably measured from second base. On the Astros flight to STL, Brad Ausmus told the piolit to say that if you look out the window, you can still see the Pujols homerun ball. In the series I'm rooting for the White Sox, because I have some family there, but I'm also mad at the Astros. Hopefully next year,
