Firebird undid that change. I'm not sure why. I guess maybe the thought is that it is changed in size for such a short period of time. In fact, if you look at the SWF file, it's only changed for two frames. Below is a table showing the details. I would counter argue that the size of the hat wouldn't change unless TBC intended it to, but that's just me.

Psalm?
-

-
It sounds like Homsar says "That's a real popular psalm", rather than "song". Or is it just his strange accent? It seems like it would fit into his quirky speech patterns.

-
:Most likely is difficult to hear clearly because Homsar speaks with such strange inflection and tone.  But given past history, saying "psalm" is less likely than "song" because TBC appear to make an effort to skirt around anything connected to a specific religion.

-
:There have only been two vaguely religious references ever made on H*R.com as far as I know: Strong Sad starting to quote from "A Christmas Carol" in A Holiday Greeting, and Homsar's response "And also with you" in Pumpkin Carve-nival.  The second case is a stretch, and in the first, Strong Sad is quickly interrupted by Homestar, possibly suggesting his quote is inappropriate or out of place, in addition to this just being Strong Sad. 19:21, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Firesign Theatre ref - not a ref.
-

-
I saw a revert in the main article about a Firesign Theatre ref - "If you lived here, you'd be home by now".  That slogan was common (and still is in some places) on real-life billboards for condominium and apartment complexes, new housing developments, etc.  Firesign Theatre was spoofing that in "How Can You Be In Two Places At Once When You're Not Anywhere At All?".

-

-
Incidentally, the full joke in the Firesign Theatre clip says "Happy Valley Condoms.  If you've lived here, you'd be home by now."  Note it does not say Condominiums.  Considering the entire album (and most of FT's work) contains very large amounts of innuendo, this fits in very well with their brand of humor, but not with TBC's. 19:15, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Re: The nation this show is from is Britain, not England. England is not a sovereign nation; Britain is. Whether or not the English would prefer the show to be recognized as "English" shouldn't play a role in this, especially since we have the word of only one user that this would be the preferred way to refer to it. Referring to this is an English show is like calling Sesame Street a New Yorker show rather than an American show. 18:20, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

-

-
Firstly, Thankyou for making this a discussion. Secondly I still maintain my beleif that it is more comon to refer to English things as English. By saying British - there is no defined way of knowing if it came from England, or on of the other UK countries. The only people who really use the term "British" is the media.

-

-
Think of it as how P.C terms for something are used, regardless of how the person feels about it. I know this isn't the same thing as country/nations but it is generalization VS the prefereties of the person.

-

-
Also, I agree the American example is valied - but things may be different to you Americans than it is to the English.

:Well, I guess I'm a bit skeptical that sentiment against being called "British" is all that widespread. These two examples, while hardly a representative survey, seem to suggest at least some English people don't mind themselves being called "British". 19:35, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Unintentional comma
-

-
When the subtitles for the Haddiman kid's show come up, they read "We'll have an adventure, and several long trips."  Could this be an intentional unnecessary comma, or just an actual grammatical error?  No comma is necessary because "several long trips" is not a complete sentence.  So are they referencing Strong Bad pointing out an unnecessary comma earlier in the e-mail, or is it just bad grammar?

-
:umm... that's not incorrect. Unnecessary, true, but in situations like that, it is acceptable to have a comma, or not to. either way really. 23:51, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

-

-
::I don't know what "situations like that" you're talking about.  If it's not a complete sentence, then there is no comma.

-
:::in a situation of listing two things using "and". would it be incorrect if it read "We'll have an adventure, a cheeseburger, and several long trips."? No. and there those commas are mandatory. Now take out "a cheeseburger," and you're still left with the comma. No problem. 00:09, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Wizarad of Oz reference
-

-
Apparently, The Wizard of Oz reference was removed because the "killing dogs" was a running joke.  However, this toon is the first instance of "killing dogs" in Homestar Runner, and therefore is not a running joke at the release of this toon.  Furthermore, even if it is a running joke, The Wizard of Oz quote is well-known in popular culture, and thus might still be an inspiration behind the running joke.

-
: But there's no connection besides killing dogs, and the WWotW is not the only character out there who has ever threatened to kill a dog. -- 23:44, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
