Ok, so in this video, the voices seem like they are likely the real thing, done by Matt. However, the visuals are static, non-moving pictures. Here's my thought.

I've read Homestuck and I think Strong Bad's comment is geared more toward the complex plot and many storylines than it being about the joke merely because the latter is because of the former.
