I really think we need to extend this page. We should transcript every page and give this it's own category. Maybe it should be the next big project we do after Peasant's Quest is done.-----User:RatherAnnoying

What about the profanity though? There are usages of "What the h*ll" and "a**" on Thorax Corp. This violates the profanity margins of the H*R Wiki. --Ian911299

:Hm... good point. Hell isn't such a big deal, seeing as it's been said before in the HSR universe. I think that a** isn't that big of a deal. If it's been said by TBC, it's ok on the wiki, I think. 00:30, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

::Except that transcribing every page would then bring up the same copyright concerns as we had before. Since the page is mostly text, it's just a simple copy-paste, unlike writing a transcript for a 'toon. See also: Talk:Strong Sad's Lament. --DorianGray

:::It's not "hell" alone that's a problem. It's when it's being used as an exclamation. THAT doesn't appear in the H*R universe. And as DorianGray mentioned, the copyright concerns are a problem, so overall, I think that we shouldn't transcribe Thorax Corp. --Ian911299

:::::Hm... you have a point. This may not have appropriate language, and there can be copyright problems. All the same, it wouldnt be the wiki way if we didn't transcribe it. :::I would not at all state them as domain owners, and calling them "stereotypical domain owners." The Brothers Chaps probably put down no actual hint (besides "offering total stardom") of what they do just to make it funny. I say that they're not "stereotypical" because there not aggressive for the most part, and that they are purposely portrayed as stupid, because, well, it makes it funny. Leg and Strong Sad seem to have much in common. They both have two brothers who seem to dislike them greatly and they are both kinda abused. I think this is note worthy. Any opinions? Also, at one point it says that Leg was locked in the toilet. This seems close enough to Strong Sad being locked in the bathtub to be mentioned.  -Philip8o

I noticed that Leg Delabor's 'Living the Hi-Life' banner led to a broken link. www.thoraxcorp.com/www.delabor.com currently shows a 404 error on my IE, but my eye caught the end of the URL. I typed in www.delabor.com and found this weird flash (animation?) of a white ball bouncing left and right with a red backround. Somethin' didn't seem right, so I left before it became a screamer. Has anyone else noticed that a some parts of The New You's songs later became a part of the Homestar universe? For example, the chorus of Chinese Ups sounds a lot like the guitar solo of Because, It's Midnite. Also, the way TNY says "She's all right!" in Sonic Youth T & A Theme Song sounds like Larry Palaroncini. There's probably more, but I can't think of 'em at the moment 76.117.12.143 01:04, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

:Hi Matt,

:>>First paragraph was all just gushing about how much TNY is the best indie rock band I've ever heard<<
 +
 +
:Another question I had was something I found through the Wayback Machine archives. Apparently long before the 2 Copies Sealed, The New You, and Mark Margarine songs were uploaded to the index, there were originally two songs, "Because, It's Midnite" and "Moving Very Slowly". They were removed in 2003, which I think was around the time Strong Bad Sings was released. Were those two files the same as the ones on the album? Or were they the samples shown in Strong Bad Emails "monster truck" and "fingers"? Or were those two songs actually based off of really old stuff you made with TNY? I really hope you still answer emails or at least still use the homestarrunner.com email account. I'd really love to know the backstory of The New You and the rest of the musical talent I've seen in that index.

This was an attempt on Aug. 5, 2014 @ 12:02 am PST. I keep getting a 404 error; however, I can access H*R just fine. I do have a copy of Poot Slap (Thorax Corp, H*R, Poop Smoke) on my alternate laptop in the event that this page becomes a thing of the past... Not to mention, but there's also an open portal to all of these pages at archive.org. Looks like the mp3s folder has finally been taken down. Intentional or not, I don't know. Thorax main site is still fine. Luckily, I have them all, in case we need them, unless y'all already have backups. Haysi fantayzee 00:09, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Revision as of 01:21, 20 January 2021

Ding! Thorax Corporation is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

Extend and transcribe

I really think we need to extend this page. We should transcript every page and give this it's own category. Maybe it should be the next big project we do after Peasant's Quest is done.-----User:RatherAnnoying 20:50, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

What about the profanity though? There are usages of "What the h*ll" and "a**" on Thorax Corp. This violates the profanity margins of the H*R Wiki. --Ian911299 00:16, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

Hm... good point. Hell isn't such a big deal, seeing as it's been said before in the HSR universe. I think that a** isn't that big of a deal. If it's been said by TBC, it's ok on the wiki, I think. — talk Bubsty edits 00:30, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
Except that transcribing every page would then bring up the same copyright concerns as we had before. Since the page is mostly text, it's just a simple copy-paste, unlike writing a transcript for a 'toon. See also: Talk:Strong Sad's Lament. --DorianGray 00:35, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
It's not "hell" alone that's a problem. It's when it's being used as an exclamation. THAT doesn't appear in the H*R universe. And as DorianGray mentioned, the copyright concerns are a problem, so overall, I think that we shouldn't transcribe Thorax Corp. --Ian911299 04:00, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
Oh, and I also saw usage of "p*ss" on Thorax. --Ian911299 04:17, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
Hm... you have a point. This may not have appropriate language, and there can be copyright problems. All the same, it wouldnt be the wiki way if we didn't transcribe it. Perhaps we ask TBC if we could transcribe it and censor out the bad words.... Never mind. I'm not very good at this kinda thing. (Especially since I'm only 12). — talk Bubsty edits 00:50, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
I'm not very good at it either. Is there anyone here who IS good at this type of stuff? --Ian911299 05:32, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
Hmmm... maybe we could discuss this on the forum with the others. --Ian911299 05:35, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
spits out coffee* Bubsty's only 12??!?!?!!?! Anyway, we could just put a warning on it, and do what we did on this page. SaltyTalk! 05:39, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
Hey! That's a pretty good idea! However, the copyright stuff is still an issue. --Ian911299 04:17, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
Well, we could also put one o' these: except change it from screenshot to.... page. SaltyTalk! 06:11, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
I'm not sure that'd fall under fair use, though, even with the template. It's only fair use if it doesn't replace the actual site. --DorianGray 06:15, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

This site doens't fall under the domain homestarrunner.com. The one page we have is sufficient. — It's dot com 06:20, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, the page we already have is enough. We really don't need more. — Ian911299 19:51, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Gent Identity

Who knows who Gent really is? Is he Matt or Mike? Is he someone famous? Who is this blurred man? Deos anyone know? I'm really curious. Chess Cheese 18:25, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Actually, to me it looks a lot like Matthew Perry. But then again I'm just a weirdo. Einoo 22:59, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Domain Business?

Where does it say Thorax Corp is a domain name business? It looks like it's only for stardome issues. (Of course, the site is full of links. It's not easy finding them all.) THS Cheesia 23:32, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello? Did anyone see this? THS Cheesia 01:30, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Weird. I use to get my questions answered. THS Cheesia 21:35, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
So... uhhh... why won't anyone answer? THS Cheesia 19:25, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Probably because, so far at least, no one knows the answer off the top of their head, and they're not willing to go look for it. Stop yelling. — It's dot com 19:33, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
I would not at all state them as domain owners, and calling them "stereotypical domain owners." The Brothers Chaps probably put down no actual hint (besides "offering total stardom") of what they do just to make it funny. I say that they're not "stereotypical" because there not aggressive for the most part, and that they are purposely portrayed as stupid, because, well, it makes it funny. To be honest, I do not find any relevance in the current description we have in the article. --71.157.173.166 22:00, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
If there are no comments, I'll just change it to "They are a fictional crudely run company offering 'Total Stardom.'" 71.157.173.166 18:09, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Leg Delabor

Why is his image a broken JPEG? Dagoth 06:27, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Why not? It's kinda funny. --DorianGray 06:30, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Am I doing this right?

Okay, before I go too far and before all the hard work I've been doing goes to waste, I'm restructuring to get all external links in with some alt attribute values thrown in. Is this good so far? Is this necessary? All of these are there real values, since you're probably wondering. 68.94.95.107 22:55, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Removed. See below for revision. You can see the old one here. 75.41.212.228 21:25, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh yeah, and I remembered there was some article that had a bunch of external links organized in columns with page titles...anyone remember what that one was I thought it was? I thought it was The King of Town DVD or Yearbook, but that isn't it. --68.94.95.107 00:07, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Today, for the past hour or less, I've finished it for the heck of it. Can we put it in the article, or do I need to improve it? 75.41.212.228 21:25, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Removed. It's now on the page with some improvements. You can see this one here. 71.157.173.166 17:59, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Can we use it? --75.41.212.228 21:25, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

You know, I looked at the Goats article thinking about replacing it with the "The Mythological Goat of Success" image with it's alternative text, and it could have been helpful to have it already in the database (well, I don't mean by in this talk page). Also, looking at an earlier note of, "(Of course, the site is full of links. It's not easy finding them all.)", I think this will be a good contribution. If no one has any comments, I'll be adding this to the page in an hour, and adding a "uncensored" at the top of the page, due to the language of some of the alternative texts and page titles. Or maybe I'll just make a non-templated warning and add that to the top of the page. Yeah, that sounds better. --75.41.212.228 19:00, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Thorax Template?

Just so that we have all of it documented on the Wiki, should we make a page for each page, pop-up, etc.? I would like to transcribe the content of all the site, however, getting it all on one page would make it a little cluttered. I understand the lack of attention brought to Thorax due to its swearing, but I think we should allow an individual page for each page. --75.41.212.228 20:38, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Really, anybody? Since it's crawling with links, it would be helpful to document the pages. Not to mention it would make listing the references a lot more easier when doing it with separate pages and not as a whole. And it would be easier on Running Gag pages to link a Thorax Page to it's own article instead of either linking the page in a running gag's article, or leave the user to just search for it in that giant External Links section I had to make. --71.157.173.166 18:19, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Content Warning Removal

I beg to differ on the removal of the content warning you did, It's Dot Com. I covered alternate texts and page names, which include "WHO THE HELL DOES THIS GUY THINK HE IS?", and "sex appeal". "HORAX" could also be taken the wrong way. --70.253.165.204 02:46, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

That, and this should be considered an uncensored article, in which I made that template of use. It will put Thorax in the uncensored articles category. 70.253.165.204 03:04, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
I've also documented the PRODUKTs now. No, not to get coverscontent back up there, its just a coincidence that I found it helpful to have it in the database while this was going on. Since the PRODUKTs contain mild swearing, we need it more than earlier. --70.253.165.204 03:27, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Okay, let me mentioned all things mentioned on the page here:
 • "HORAX" (could be taken the wrong way)
 • "sex appeal"
 • "[...] that royal 'ass'"
 • "In fact, we're so pissed off we can hardly even stand it!"
 • And, "WHO THE HELL DOES THIS GUY THINK HE IS?"
This site deals with a nature that is both humorous and offensive in language. I see no need why we shouldn't have the template on the page. Anyone agree or disagree? --75.5.176.233 22:41, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Leg and Strong Sad

Leg and Strong Sad seem to have much in common. They both have two brothers who seem to dislike them greatly and they are both kinda abused. I think this is note worthy. Any opinions? Also, at one point it says that Leg was locked in the toilet. This seems close enough to Strong Sad being locked in the bathtub to be mentioned. -Philip8o 05:47, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Which page said he was locked in a toilet? --69.150.85.66 02:03, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Leg Delabor

I noticed that Leg Delabor's 'Living the Hi-Life' banner led to a broken link. www.thoraxcorp.com/www.delabor.com currently shows a 404 error on my IE, but my eye caught the end of the URL. I typed in www.delabor.com and found this weird flash (animation?) of a white ball bouncing left and right with a red backround. Somethin' didn't seem right, so I left before it became a screamer. Does anyone else know WHAT this is? Corruption 01:56, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

I've come across this link before when I came across some mention of "www.delabor.com". They are probably not related. I mean, the foot note under the Flash is Spanish! A reference to El Delabor? Probably not. --69.150.85.66 02:00, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Index of /mp3s

Anyone seen this before? http://www.thoraxcorp.com/mp3s/ OptimisticFool 04:31, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Holy crap, I think you found Matt's old rap songs he recorded when he was in high school! He mentioned "All Star Rapper" in the DVD commentary for Rampage. And if you listen to those Pavement-ish songs in the TNY section, it totally sounds like his voice. 24.191.104.184 20:37, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

More Total Stardom

Thanks to the Way Back Machine, I've found another former page of Thorax.com. http://web.archive.org/web/20020502092745/thoraxcorp.com/stardomcom.html OptimisticFool 04:53, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm surprised that no one's decided to add this, and the index of MP3s, to the article. I will add them to the External Links section under a new subsection. I think their notable, but not the SimpleMail page. It appears that it was a standard Yahoo! Website Services feature, so I don't see it's notability. --76.224.216.122 17:10, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

No "join" page

The form on the join page/what happens isn't mentioned, that I see. Maybe it's just not important? 75.109.136.234 04:00, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

The New You

Has anyone else noticed that a some parts of The New You's songs later became a part of the Homestar universe? For example, the chorus of Chinese Ups sounds a lot like the guitar solo of Because, It's Midnite. Also, the way TNY says "She's all right!" in Sonic Youth T & A Theme Song sounds like Larry Palaroncini. There's probably more, but I can't think of 'em at the moment 76.117.12.143 01:04, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

I also noticed that the opening to Chinese Ups (a story about a musician vomiting) is partially backmasked, but reveals the same audio as the rest of the opening when reversed, making it redundant and symmetrical. I'm assuming that was done as a joke. --JohnnyLurg 03:19, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Email sent to Matt

I just sent this email to Matt asking about the mp3s index on the site.

Hi Matt,
>>First paragraph was all just gushing about how much TNY is the best indie rock band I've ever heard<<
Another question I had was something I found through the Wayback Machine archives.
The New You's biggest fan,
