:So basically, they were being silly. It's the storyboard's fault. But what I really want to know is were the deleted scenes (excluding #4) really removed from the original toon for the reasons stated or did they create them especially for the "DVD" release as a joke? And why the freaking crap is Strong Bad wearing oven gloves?!?! 12:27, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

While it does sound similar to the Donkey Kong intro, it's pretty obvious from the appearance of the Pitfall scorpion that it is actually the Pitfall sound effect for when the player dies.

Shouldn't we move "In Search of the Yello Dello New Version" to In Search of the Yello Dello (New Version), and the same with the old? Having it jumbled together with no separation seems a little awkward-looking. --75.5.176.233 03:09, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

-
:I'd guess the main reason we didn't do it like that is because everything else (Commentary, Theatrical Trailer, etc.) fits just fine. I'm not really in favor of moving them, but neither am I outright opposed to doing so. I'd like to hear some more support for moving them before we took any action. — It's dot com 03:16, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

-
::Just saying "The previous longest toon, In Search of the Yello Dello New Version." Sounds too jumbled together. And, in some way, we are making it seem like the official name for the title, which it's never implied on the site that it is (though I doubt this is that valid of an argument). --75.5.176.233 22:15, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

:::Well, the article for the toon (including all its versions and parts of the DVD) is this one. Each of the specialized pages is dedicated almost exclusively to the transcripts of the various parts of the overall toon. All the fun facts and supporting information are in this article, because the different pieces aren't considered separate toons. (One could make a case that the actual running time for this toon is all of its parts combined.) Maybe we should add "Transcript" to the sub-articles (In Search of the Yello Dello New Version Transcript, etc.). — It's dot com 02:50, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

-
::::Now that you mention it, I just thought of something. Shouldn't we keep the Fun Fact's in the respective transcripts' articles, instead of just the main article? It's like Roomisode 1 and its responses, the Fun Facts for the "transcript" are in its own article, separate from the main (though I did move them), because it wouldn't make sense having it all in one article, not to mention confusing. --75.5.176.233 21:58, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

-
:::::When I first split the transcripts off from the main article three years ago, I didn't think so, but now I think it might be a good idea. If we did, the set of pages would need to be overhauled a bit (as well as the ones on The King of Town DVD). — It's dot com 22:46, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

-
::::::I think we need all the old stuff is being ignored. In Thorax, I really have been the only major contributor, the King of Town DVD Template was even improperly formatted for a year or something 'till I fixed it, and I feel that the standards may not be consistent (haven't checked, just a feeling). I think Community Projects need to start happening again.

Homestar's toes
-

-
Hey, as far as I know, the scene where Homestar is talking to Coach Z (at the part where Homestar is shaped like a trapezoid) is the only place I've ever seen Homestar with toes (3 in this case). Should this be a 'Remark?' or in Homestar's character page or something? If you can't find this, look at frame 773-856 in the old version or frame 874-957 in the new version. -Dutchscout 00:33, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

-
:All of the character designs in this toon are somewhat apocryphal. They were just originally just a joke in the storyboards, but then TBC thought it would be funnier if they made the real toon with the exaggerated styles. I think they're in the same class as the style departures in The Reddest Radish and KOT's VOQPCS!. — It's dot com 00:56, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

-
::So... I shouldn't add it because it's not indicative of the actual characters? Is that what you're saying? I'm ok with that if you are -Dutchscout 03:32, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

You know the tune that plays in the DVD menu? Well, I noticed something that would more then likely just be a coincidence and not intended. You see, one of the main instruments closely resembles the tune from |this song from the video game "Eastern Mind: The Lost Souls of Tong-Nou." I don't know if this would be worth adding to the remarks, but it is something of interest. I guess the fact it is likely unintended and we're forced to treat it as such before the Chapm'ns tell us makes it pretty hard to figure out if we should stick this in or not; and whenever or not we'd keep it if they confirm it is just a coincidence. I was raised by a cup of coffee - Camwoodstock 21:43, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

-
:It's probably a coincidence. The DVD menu music (and the title music) is supposed to be the Pitfall II theme music (the "normal" theme, not the other three themes), although it's only half of it. The reason it sounds so much fuller than the original theme is probably due to the use of the overlapping pre-set backing rhythms available to the Chaps on their numerous keyboards.

Screwy Astronomy
-

-
About a day ago, I added this remark:

-
*The sun and moon move in opposite directions through the sky, which is impossible on Earth.

-

-
This was removed a few hours later by user:It's dot com, who stated, "this is true, but is it really notable in a toon with such stylized animation?" I offer the following other remarks that made the cut and, at least to me, are less interesting than the silly astronomy:

-
*During the scene where Coach Z is giving advice to Homestar, Homestar's star appears as a pentacle — a hollow star drawn with lines across each point. Stars are often drawn this way because it's easier to make them symmetrical. [Stars can be drawn a different way! Wow!]

-
*Unless Pom Pom had two identical guns, he couldn't have pulled out the gun the second time, because he threw it away. [Maybe he just picked it back up. Or maybe, as the text suggests, he just had two guns.]

-

-
I know we all have different opinions as to how interesting various fun facts are and others might not care enough about the motion of the sun and moon, but I figured I'd at least add the fun fact to the discussion page.--Bobo the King 10:14, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

-
:We generally try not to game the system by comparing one piece of wiki info against another, and just examine each on its own merits. That having been said, I don't know why stylized animation would mean that the sun and moon going opposite ways isn't unusual. I'm in favor of re-adding that remark. 12:48, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

-
You're right, those were uninteresting facts that didn't really belong. The fact that stars can be drawn a different way has no relevance to the toon. Pom Pom has his gun back (or another gun) because it's funny, and exactly how or why he got it back is unnecessary speculation. Remarking on those things doesn't add anything, so they've been removed. Likewise, remarking on the Sun and Moon doesn't add anything. This is a toon with surreal animation. Characters have wildly different body shapes (sometimes several in the same scene), move in exaggerated ways, are shown to fly despite not having that ability, and speak without moving their mouths. Homestar's tiny house has a solid metal door that, what, slides up through the ceiling? The scenery literally changes to the game Pitfall. I could go on. Listing something in this toon just because it's not possible on Earth is not notable. — It's dot com 15:47, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

-
:I hadn't thought of it that way. I'm convinced that the remark wouldn't be notable. 20:46, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

-
::I agree. It's not notable. 21:16, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

-
:I don't agree, but I don't disagree strongly either, so this is mostly a shrug from me. As I said, I mostly want it on the talk page as a record for people who are more curious about the toon. On a tangent, I'd also like to point out that the direction of the crescent moon is inconsistent with its position relative to the sun. (The bright side of the moon always points to the sun.) For some reason, that doesn't bother me as much and I'm not advocating for its inclusion. I don't really have any reason to bring this up except to say that for some reason my allowance for cartoon physics extends to stylized crescent moons but not to the relevant movement of celestial bodies.--Bobo the King 04:13, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
