Although Mike and Matt Chapman claim that Homestar runner is a children's series, there have been some traces of drugs, alcohol, etc used in their cartoons.
Use in cartoons
-In 3 Times Halloween Funjob, Homestar's line about houses giving away lead candies is a reference to a moral panic that occurred during the 1980s, in which there was much fear of people giving away candy that had been tampered with to children. Some of the more popular suspects were apples injected with drugs, candies with needles broken off into them, and as Homestar remarks, pieces of lead wrapped in candy wrappers.
-In sbemail Autobiography, In Strong Bad's tape "Words I Probably Said", he explains, "somebody must have slipped him some drugs or something before the game"
-In Limozeen Thanksgiving E-Cards, one of them says "Kids under six, don't drink and drive! And drugs, stay out of school!"
-In sbemail Candy Product, Strong Bad's "Edgar's Baby's Daddy H*R Junkmail Filta" has one email, "Re: Pharmblancy news" that is a subject line from an actual spam that advertised prescription drugs offered by many southeast Asia-based "pharmacies."
Pills
There have been many uses of the word pills, portraying prescription drugs.
-In sbemail Funny, Strong Sad asks Strong Bad, "Did you take some of my pills again?"
-In Peasant's Quest (game), one of the items is a bottle of pills
-In sbemail time capsule, an easter egg displays "Jobar's Big Ol' Headache Medicine," which is a bottle of pills
-In Stinkoman 20X6 (game), the main health restoring item is a large pill.
-In sbemail retirement, an easter egg reveals the files on strong bad's computer. One of them reads "diet pills"
