The Big Lebowski is a 1998 comedy film written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen starring Jeff Bridges and John Goodman. The movie is widely considered to be a cult classic for its originality and direction, its eccentric characters, and its convoluted plot, which centers around The Dude's earnest quest to replace his soiled living room rug. The Brothers Chaps sometimes slip references to this movie in Homestar Runner cartoons.

- Main Page 4 — The 4-pointed stars on the back wall are similar to the stars seen in The Dude's bowling alley in The Big Lebowski.
- Halloween Potion-ma-jig — Pom Pom dresses up as Walter Sobchak, a Vietnam veteran. This toon also references other aspects of the movie, such as the severed toe, the lines "You're entering a world of pain" and "DONNY, YOU'RE OUT OF YOUR ELEMENT!", which were repeated sayings of Sobchak, and a moment where Pom Pom inappropriately draws a gun.
- Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 13.2 — Strong Bad says "Am I wrong? Somebody, am I wrong?", which was a line said by Sobchak.
- Email cliffhangers — Strong Bad refers to the Lappy's bloody, severed comma key as its "little toe".
