Revising
Looks like this one needs revising. I'm on it. -- AgentSeethroo 14:42, 5 Aug 2004 (MST)
American Flag
The flag with 8 stars in a circle, and 5 stripes, is closer to the Confederate Stars and Bars (originally 7 stars and 3 stripes) than any incarnation of the U.S. flag (originally 13 stars and 13 stripes). I don't know whether this is worth remarking on the page. -- Caradhras 07:01, 25 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I think that would be worth posting on the page, so I say go ahead. Don't be afraid to post anything that you think is worth remarking on. Homestramy20|Talk 07:07, 25 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- So I did, and it was immediately reverted. I thought the point of "remarks" was to point out something interesting. I wasn't claiming it was the same flag or that Homestar lives in the C.S.A., just pointing out what struck me as an interesting coincidence. Apparently someone else disagrees. -- Caradhras 05:05, 28 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, in most cases, if we open the door for interesting coincidences, the fun facts sections become severely bloated. The reason I don't think it's the same flag is because the caption reads "U.S. Soup Bonds," and The Homestar is wearing a WWI helmet. Clearly, it's supposed to be an American flag, it just suffers from poor "old-timey" animation. Like you said, the resemblance is probably coincidental to the Confederate flag. On a side note, American Cival War armies actually suffered due to the similarities of the two flags, and the Southern troops demanded a flag that was easier to distinguish from the U.S. flag so that they wouldn't rally 'round the wrong one. — It's dot com 05:40, 28 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Hell
Is this the only time the word "hell" is used, other than the original character page ("Bubs makes a helluva snowcone?")
There was the use of "Hella tight" in Teen Girl Squad Issue 3.
Pencils in Bubs' Can
Could the pencils in Old Timey Bubs' can possibly be a reference to The Cheat paying normal Bubs with pencil shavings, seeing as Old Timey Strong Bad and The Sneak just bought all of Old Timey Bubs' parsnips, possibly paying with pencils instead of pencil shavings? - SBLOUNSKCHED! 18:35, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
- Another interesting thought on the same subject is that pencils might be seen as the "old timey" version of the pencil shavings - i.e., what the pencil shavings looked like a long time ago, before they were put through the sharpener. This may be a bit of a stretch though.
