RSS
Could we get an RSS feed for this page like the one in recent changes? That would be very handy :) -Southpaw018
- What is an RSS feed? ~Hobo
- There's some good information on RSS in this forum topic and on the HRWiki:Feeds page. -- Tom 15:09, 15 Oct 2004 (MST)
- Sad to say, a feed for this page does not look like it's gonna happen anytime soon. In the meantime, you can use this feed. http://interglacial.com/rss/homestar.rss --James 16:46, 19 Oct 2004 (MST)

Parsing Error
The H*R.com updates article has been throwing an error since a recent upgrade. Has anyone else seen other pages doing this? I think it has something to do with the template. Other pages are loading templates just fine, and, in fact, Template:updates is viewable. So why would the program have problems inserting that template onto this page? --JoeyDay 12:49, 24 Nov 2004 (MST)
- Update: there seem to be problems loading the updates template onto any page (I just tried in the sandbox). Any ideas? --JoeyDay 12:55, 24 Nov 2004 (MST)
- Check your comp. I see the template just fine and dandy, I don't know why you wouldn't be. (Unless, of course, it was fixed in the last three hours, which isn't impossible.) --Shadow Hog 13:23, 24 Nov 2004 (MST)
- It wasn't the template that was the problem. As I mentioned above, the template was viewable, it was just throwing errors when used on pages. Actually, everything is fixed now. I re-uploaded all the files for MediaWiki and that seems to have fixed things up nicely. --JoeyDay 13:43, 24 Nov 2004 (MST)

Lock?
I've noticed that some pages on Wikipedia happen to be lockable if people keep on editing in nasty things. Like, say, George W. Bush. Would that be possible on here? It'd sure-as-heck prevent all those people from trying to post updates here or vandalizing it, and frankly, what editing does this page really need? It's a page with a call to a template and maybe an introductory paragraph, but that's it. What's to edit? I say, if it's possible, this get protected from editing to make our lives a little easier. --Shadow Hog 23:09, 24 Nov 2004 (MST)
- Thanks for the tip, but this page is already protected. -- Tom 05:52, 25 Nov 2004 (MST)
- Must've happened when I wasn't looking. Thanks anyway.--Shadow Hog 10:23, 25 Nov 2004 (MST)
So Long...
Why does it take so long for edits to the template to take effect here? I press reload over and over and nothing happens... --Nerdular Nerdence 00:56, 30 Nov 2004 (MST)
- Still broken here, too. Maybe the lock is messing it up for some reason. - [[User:furrykef|furrykef (Talk at me)]] 03:01, 30 Nov 2004 (MST)
Still nothing. Will admins look at please? --Nerdular Nerdence 22:31, 30 Nov 2004 (MST)
- Were you doing a normal Refresh or a Ctrl+Refresh? Ctrl+Refresh forces your browser to load from the site rather than pulling the page from your temporary internet files. See if that makes a difference. I haven't confirmed this yet, but I'm starting to think MediaWiki actually caches pages somewhere on the server so that it doesn't get overloaded with PHP/SQL requests. Smart thinking if you ask me, and I think that's what makes it run smoother than 'Tavi. Anyway, try the Ctrl+Refresh and if that doesn't work try clearing your temp internet files. Reply back here if you can't figure it out. —JoeyDay (Talk) 23:10, 30 Nov 2004 (MST)
- MediaWiki does cache pages, images in particular. Quite nicely I might add, considering our bandwidth draw. Anyway, this page has worked fine for me since the first time I viewed it on Monday. Nerdular Nerdence, Joey's instructions are exactly what I would recommend. Does it work now? -- Tom 10:10, 1 Dec 2004 (MST)
- I'm puzzled. It got it right earlier in the week, and now it's wrong again. ctrl+refresh does nothing to help. - [[User:furrykef|furrykef (Talk at me)]] 13:35, 3 Dec 2004 (MST)
I'd tried that before and nothing, but now it is coming up ok. Maybe ISP or something stupid like that is caching on the way... oh well. Also, use FireFox, and it doesn't seem to be quite as dumb about loading from cache instead of internet... --Nerdular Nerdence 18:10, 1 Dec 2004 (MST)
This sounds similar to how Wikipedia behaves with respect to the Main Page. This link should force the page to update the cache for H*R.com_updates.
Of course, it assumes the Purge function works in the version of MediaWiki used here. --83.88.139.108 12:07, 6 Dec 2004 (MST)
