Homestar and the bags seem to not be important to the Brothers Strong's scheme: Bubs donated the drinks and then showed up after Homestar saw him.
Donated? I think you'll find Homestar bought the drinks, although it looks as if no money was exchanged, but that's just because everything seems free when bought from Bubs'.
