For some reason, the text on my talk page appears in weird boxes. Can anybody help?

The reason why the text on your user page was showing up like
This,
is because you put a indent before typing. In order to have your text appear normal, but with an indent, then you must type : (the more you type, the more indented the text appears). I fixed up your page for you, by the way. Homestramy20|Talk 06:32, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

Here's another tip-In case you didn't already know, you can easily type four tildes like so:~~~~. Guess what this will do? Well, this handy code will add a link to your user page, and a time stamp. Ahh, yes. Creating a signiture. Well, first off, you can just take a quick look at my signiture. Press edit, and look at the codes for HTML. You can use these codes to create colors and links to your user page, talk page, and, well, any link that will automatically be visable in your signiture. And when you're done, just copy (Of course, use your own user links) and add it to this page:SaltyTalk!. Then, once you're done there, go to preferences, and add in {{User:Salty/sig}} under Nickname. Save it, and you're done! And it would be the same to sign-just 4 tiles (~~~~). Hope this helps, and just come to me if you have any further questions. Homestramy20|Talk 08:31, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
- Btw, Four ~~~~'s leaves sig and datestamp, but three just leaves your signature. And five leaves just the datestamp. Feel free to check out other user's sigs as well, for more tricks to the format. Often users like to leave links somewhere within their sig to their user page, talk page (the place we are now, obviously), and your contributions page so they can see all the stuff you've done. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 09:24, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

BTW, here's a hint. If you want to have your name be in a special color, follow these instructions: Go up to the top-right of the page and click on preferences. Once there, you will see a a box with nickname next to it. Go in it and put <span style="color: #xxxxxx;" and then put in your username, in this case Salty, so that it looks like this: Salty. After that, put in . IN place of the x's, enter a hexidecimal color code. A number of these codes can be found on the page attatched. If you want to attatch an image, here's what to do: the standard image file's script looks like this: File:xxxx.PNG. In order to replace the x's with an image name, you have to click on your selected image. THis will take you to the image page. Directly below the image there will be a label bearing the image's name. Copy the name and paste it in front of your sig. Make sure that it's a small image, though, otherwise your sig will look really weird. Take the little homsar in front of my sig. If you want that, just type in Image:homsar_small.PNG in between brackets in front of or behind your name in the nickname box. After you are done, the text in the nickname box will become your sig. Also, if you want to italicize or embolden text, just put double ' marks or triple ' marks, respectively, on both sides of the text. If you have any more questions, contact me on my userpage here. Heh heh, well, about two years ago my mom made me get this this I didn't want because It was on sale, and in big letters it said "SALTY". So kids at school started calling me Salty, and once I wore it to my cousin's house and his friends started calling me Salty.... eventually, some of his friends came over and asked me what my name was, and I just said Salty. They never found out my real name. Also, I think Salty is a pretty cool name. Ionly chose Lappy 486 in the beginning because everyone else had names from H*R and I couldn't think of anything :) SaltyTalk! 03:33, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
