Within the Homestar Runner body of work, there have been many references to the puppet characters created by Jim Henson, known as The Muppets.
Appearances
- Teen Girl Squad 7 — The Brothers Chaps have said that the issue is a direct homage to Muppet Babies.
- Halloween Potion-Ma-Jig — Marzipan dresses up as Beaker. When she imitates his voice, The Cheat appears to understand her.
- Email highschool — The scene that takes place in "middle school" references Muppet Babies; several characters appear as "melon-headed babies with gigantic eyes and enormous imaginations." Homestar himself takes the role of Nanny, wearing red and white striped bloomers (instead of green and white striped stockings).
- Homestar Ruiner— At a party, Strong Bad speaks to Coach Z in faux Swedish, ending with the Swedish Chef's famous catchphrase, "Bork bork bork."
- Puppet Stuff— Many of the puppets are modelled on the style of The Muppets.
