He shoots; he Underscores!
Out of curiosity: I've noticed people making edits like that one often, replacing underscores and %-giberish in links. In your edit it makes a lot of sense because the underscore was seen, but what about in piped links? I.e. is there a problem with, say, this? Is this preferable, and if so why? —AbdiViklas 18:54, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
- Hm. I think that, as long as the link looks good (for example, with no visible underscores) then I don't think it really matters. As far as I know, there isn't any official wiki policy regarding underscores in links. — Kilroy / talk 19:22, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
- I disagree, Kilroy. Even in piped links, it's better to remove all that un-needed stuff. When a page is searched, MediaWiki doesn't search the plain text, but the code. So I think you can miss some results it the underscores are in. In talk pages, it's all right, but not in the article itself. It's also more plesent to the eye when editing a page. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 15:17, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
- As a side point, one thing that bugs me is that people often name the links to the strong bad email DVD as strongbad email.exe. This is pretty much the only instance where strongbad_email.exe is the correct link. They go to the same place, but the underscore should usually be there. Just a side point that kind bugs me somethetimes. I always add the underscore when I see them. ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 22:58, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks, El Coolio; that's what I was looking for, a good reason. —AbdiViklas 23:10, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
- Also (I don't know if any users do this), there is an option to make the wiki not underline links (under preferences-misc). Anyone who has this selected could be confused by unnecessary underscores. SparkPlug 23:32, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

Deleting images
Hi there Kilroy. When fixing images, it's best to reupload an image with the same exact filename to replace an older version. This way, historic pages are not without current images. And remember, space is not an issue, so deleting old revisions isn't really necessary either, especially since not deleting them preserves the images' history. And of course, image deletion cannot be undone, so everything is permanent. And out of curiosity, what was wrong with those images that needed fixing? -- Tom 22:50, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
- Because I mistakenly hit the "enter" key while I was in the "Subject/headline" box and not the "editform" textarea. Thanks for being so quick to point that out. -- Tom 22:50, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
- Hi Tom. First of all, I reuploaded those images because they wouldn't display for me in my browser, not even after clearing my cache or anything. I thought the wiki was experiencing a problem similar to the one when we upgraded to MediaWiki 1.5. Anyway, when I reuploaded those images, I did reupload them with the exact same filename - the MediaWiki software just capitalized the first letter of the filenames, making them different. I hope that explains why I deleted and reuploaded those images. Thanks for asking, if I ever do anything like that in the future I'll remember not to delete the old images.
- EDIT: Oh, now I see. The "destination filename" box on the upload page. I will remember to use that next time! (Why didn't I think of using that?!) — Kilroy / talk 15:02, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
- I'd like to eliminate whatever part of the program is automatically capitalizing these filenames. Obviously, the software didn't used to do that, and now that it does it's kind of annoying. As you noticed, Kilroy, you can manually type in a lowercase letter in the "Destination filename" field. Also, if you click "Upload a new version of this file" on the image page, it will fill in the destinatinon filename with an initial lowercase letter if that's how it already is in the file. — It's dot com 15:19, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
PBKWiki
Sorry for my sudden departure, the wiki started freezing up. I've got a really slow connection, which is a bad combination for some already slow sites. Eventually they just stop sometimes (continual loading of a page), and there's nothing I can do but let them chill. It looks really cool though, the image. The one thing I messed up with though, I meant top left. Stretch to fit would be prefferable, if it's possible. If not, top left would be fine. Thanks Kilroy! ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 22:54, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
- Yeah, the wiki freezes up a lot. It's called free hosting. Anyway, I'll fix it as soon as the wiki is thawed out - er, unfrozen - er, whatever. — Kilroy / talk 23:00, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
- I know. My website does the same thing pretty often. Such is the life of free hosting... :) ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 23:03, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
- Okray, the wiki's unfrozen, everything is fine, nothing is ruined. Yeah.. and I fixed your background thing so it's at the top left now. (I don't know how to make it so it stretches to fit.) — Kilroy / talk 23:47, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Christmas Code
Hey there, Kilroy. I noticed that your signature didn't exactly turn out the way you wanted it to. May I suggest this code?
— <font color=red>K</font> <font color=green>i</font> <font color=red>l</font> <font color=green>r</font> <font color=red>o</font> <font color=green>y</font>/ <small> <font color=red>t</font> <font color=green>a</font> <font color=red>l</font> <font color=green>k</font> </small>
See you around. — Lapper (talk) 01:59, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks Lapper. That did the trick. — Kilroy / talk 03:41, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
About the Guestbook
Hi Kilroy! How are you? I was looking at your page, and I just noticed you added a guestbook to it! I also noticed that your userpage is protected from edits. Just wanted to point that out if you wanted signatures. I'd be the first to sign. --Stux 08:24, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- Hi Stux! I'm just fine. Yeah, my guestbook's on a subpage. Having it separate from my main user page keeps my main page looking neat. (And troll-free..) — Kilroy / talk 22:42, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- Lol, that's a good idea! Your page does look clean and nice. That Powered by Kilroy site looks interesting... I should check it out. --Stux 23:06, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
