Hi there. I'm the user that discovered the hidden alternate Strong Bad drawings in the YouTube version of That Time of Year. I don't blame you for making a mistake like that, especially if it's your first contribution. I've made tons of mistakes here on the Wiki. Some of them are exactly like that. Some have actually been much worse. Everyone here makes mistakes, even (one might say especially) the users who improve the Wiki the most. As long as the mistakes are not of bad intent and are reversible, they are... well... reversible. So I'm glad you realized your mistake, but now it's been fixed, so you can move on and make some constructive edits.

If I had known that a Record Store Day toon was coming out, I might have made a different sig just for today. But in UTC time there's only 1.5 hours left in the day, so that's kinda pointless.

I hate to bite your style, but your signature has to fit inside a 180x20-pixel box. You can put one next to your signature to make sure it doesn't exceed the boundaries, like this. (It's fine if you only do that in preview.)<br><span style="font-family: Lucida Console""><font color=#004d41>Catjaz63</font> <font color=#FF8533>Quit Bitin' my Style!</font></span><br><br>As you can see, it's a bit too long right now. :::If you're not married to having the number 63 in your signature, it looks like taking it out would make the rest of it fit. Provided the page it's on isn't this talk page because the system doesn't let you link a page to itself. On the other hand, there are ways it can be coded so that it works differently than normal. 21:55, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Edit Summaries
-
Hi Catjaz63, I just wanted to drop a quick reminder about edit summaries.  Some of your recent contributions lack edit summaries and these help other editors know at a glance what it is that your edits are changing.  So please don't neglect them! Even when extremely concise they're still helpful.  Thanks and Happy New Year! --Stux 21:38, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

:Hey there, Catjaz, just wanted to leave you another small note about edit summaries and let you know that summaries are for page histories first, and recent changes a distant second. This means that putting an edit summary like "" on an edit which has nothing to do with external links, and is responding to a ends up leaving future users viewing the wondering what you were talking about. It's nothing to beat yourself up over though, I just thought I ought to let you know to help you out for the future. Keep up the awesome work! 18:56, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Real talk
-

-
Alright, since nobody in an appropriate position has taken the time to tell you this, let me give you a crash course.

-
*Minor edits are minor. As in, one word maximum. Adding or removing an entire section is a major edit, and should be left as such. People don't check minor edits as often, because they assume that they won't change how the page reads. As a self-appointed member of the recent changes patrol, this should matter to you.

-
*Don't contradict the admins. They've been very generous not to ban you for some of the things you've pulled. They are only human, yes, but they have the interests of the wiki at heart. If you disagree with them, take it up on the talk page, but once they've explained themselves, leave it.

-
*If you insist on being part of the welcoming committee, be respectful to other users. ALLCAPS like "Characters in the books DO NOT count" comes across as hostile and self-important.

-
I don't care that you're an admin on ledditXD or anything else, you need to conduct yourself on this wiki. To those responsible for doing so, revert this when you see fit, but this point needed to be made.

-
:I can understand your points and will try to them on this wiki; however, could I get some elaboration/examples on the second point? - 02:56, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

-
::I am unable to find obvious examples of the second point, and acknowledge that I may have misinterpreted or misremembered earlier discussions when writing it. If such is the case, I apologize for making such an accusation. That said, as long as you take the other points to heart, that is all I could have asked for.

-
:::Anonny, it's a rather serious thing to suggest that a user has engaged in ban-worthy behaviour and then not be able to provide evidence thereof. I would caution you to be more circumspect in your approach to this. I'm also not really keen on the assertion "don't contradict the admins", as that's not in accordance with our policies. Open disagreement is allowed. There are certainly a few cases not to contradict an admin (e.g., admin tells a user "I don't intend to block you," and you say "YOU WILL BE BLOCKED!" on that very user's talk page? That would be a bad call.), but in general there's nothing wrong with expressing disagreement.

-
:::Catjaz, I do agree that the all caps "DO NOT" would have been better handled without shouting, and that it'd be better to use the minor edit function more sparingly. Not a huge deal, though, just a couple things to improve on.

-
:::So, let's all have fun and make an encyclopedia about dumb animal characters. 03:57, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

-
::::This message struck me as incredibly odd. I had recently been thinking quite the opposite, namely that this Catjaz person is an okay guy, and has already been way too hard on himself. (Seriously, what's with all the edit summaries talking about how you're a terrible person, and the big notice on your user page?) Anyway, yes, you're new, you're a little inexperienced, and that inexperience is compounded by the fact that it's difficult to see how the wiki is supposed to function when it's not nearly as lively as it once was, but overall, you've been levelheaded and rational about most of the work you've done, haven't been antagonistic in any way, and have been doing an overall decent job most of the time. Basically, what I'm saying is "DON'T BE SO HARD ON YOURSELF MR. JAZSON!" 07:38, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

-
:::::Oh, and one more thing. To the coward who posted the original message here: If you're so sure of yourself that you're going to leave such an obnoxious message for someone, at least post using your real account so we know who you are rather than hiding behind a proxy IP. 07:50, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Man, that word is annoying to spell. Anyway, thanks for your changes. I was going to move the article in a similar direction myself. Also, I propose a rename to "silhouetted characters". 20:02, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

-
:Or not, since one of the examples isn't of characters. Also, what do you think of this page? I'm not sure if I have something going or not. It's supposed to be distinct from characters dressed as other characters. 20:10, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

-
::I don't know; there haven't been many examples of characters poorly disguising themselves that don't automatically fall under Impersonations of Other Characters.

-
::Also, I would suggest using a sandbox like "User:Broncotroll/Sandbox" like Gsddnjsadflsdn did, since it allows you to test multiple test articles and also is more ubiquitous. - 20:18, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

-
::: Alright then. What about an article "Disguises" in general? That would be a lot more inclusive, but it could also overlap with Impersonations of Other Characters and possibly even Alter Egos. 23:22, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

-
::::We already have Halloween Costumes and Other Costumes, which should cover all of this. I'm not sure why you guys are trying so hard to find a new page to create. 23:30, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

-
::::: I wouldn't call it "trying so hard". You don't seriously think that no new pages will be created but the new toons, right? There's always more patterns to find. 23:40, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

-
::::::No, of course not. But usually those patterns present themselves naturally. This conversation seemed to me to be an attempt to create a new page for the sake of creating a new page. Forgive me if that assessment was incorrect. 23:46, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

-
::::I don't know how I feel about you automatically assuming I also desire to make new pages. I'm simply just responding to queries left on my talk page and have made no actions that suggest that I'm working directly from Broncotroll. - 00:03, 22 July 2015 (UTC)

Revision numbers in edit summaries
-
In case you don't already know, if you want to link to a specific edit in an edit summary, you can just type "revision 751557" like I've done with this edit summary, and the link will show up on its own. You don't have to write the external link text that would then have to be copied into the address bar. Just a little tip. 03:33, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

-
:Well, you got the link to show up, but be aware that it links to &diff=prev in the url, not &diff=next. On this reversion, you actually linked to the edit on the page immediately before the one it looks like you meant to link to. I was a little confused when I clicked the link and didn't find a reason attached to it right away. I guess I didn't say this before, so you're not to blame for the <s>mistake</s> stnank. 23:50, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Now we've gotta act quickly. I mean, sbemail476 isn't gonna write itself. And the other users are still working on HTML9 compatibility but they really need our input. Oh. Hi. So, uh... it turns out May 3, 20X6 was in fact May 3, 2016. I added this post a couple days ago using the time machine, but... I decided to make some... let's call 'em embellishments, for effect. Actually, sbemail476 is just sbemail207. HTML5 is being replaced not with HTML9 or even HTML6... but "HTML.next". The angry mob consists of, like, two people who just make troll edits or something. The Homestore-Runner&trade; rations thing is real, I guess, if you look at how much things are going for on eBay. The glasses are in their stowed and locked positions... on every airplane ever. Nothing of note has happened involving Rhodes for quite some time... although there's a new company called Shadd Piano that's making pitch-bending grand pianos... so that's prooty cool. Anydangway, the time machine is still classified. Why do I keep talking about it? Because it's classified as a hypothetical device from science fiction, that's why! -- 11:01, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Hey there. A couple of times already, a former user has asked you for help re-creating an account. Since you probably don't know yet, he is a banned user from before you came who still shows up every few months trying to argue a case towards being unblocked. He would create conflict where none was needed, and he would replace pages with profanities and personal attacks, so he's not allowed to edit anymore. Given that the user who blocked him is the same person who is primarily in charge of creating new accounts, and he's not bending, telling the blocked user the normal method of creating an account isn't going to be of much use to him. Additionally, the IP he used this time has already been blocked once for the same offenses, which came a couple years after he started asking to be unblocked. The admins have mainly been ignoring or deleting the talk posts. 04:44, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

Hey there. Just so you know, there's no requirement for people to delete the "first time here" links. They're welcome to, but there's really no reason to tell them that they should. In fact, there isn't really much of a reason to mention the bot message at all, as the message itself already says that it's an automatic message and that people are free to delete it. When welcoming, it's better to focus on the user themselves and welcome them personally based on what you've seen so far of their unique personality than it is to give them a copied and pasted canned welcome. Just a thought. Hope that helps! 12:22, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

:iirc you added the "C.R.A.P." acronym, I made the template itself. It's just a joke. :V - 23:11, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

Hey Catjaz! Despite your attempt at a hurried cover-up, I looked through my page-history spyglass and found that you invited me to do the subtitles for Later That Night... before you found out that Gfd was doing them. (You're doing a great job by the way, Gfd!) Just wanted to thank you for thinking of me. I would have loved to have done them, but I'm supposed to be doing homework right now anyway, so it's probably for the best. Hopefully I'll get to do some subtitling for the next toon in six months.

:They grow up so fast... I'll never forget the day my sig page was vandalized, before you had even joined this wiki. The true sign that I was... *sniff*... a regular contributor!

-
:Now you know what you must do, Catjaz. Badge your page with the red-dash-bordered box of courage, as is a time-honored tradition of regular contributors.

:...Or, not. S'really up to you. -- 21:11, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
