I'm kinda miffed that someone removed my comment about the broken JPEG icon being from Mozilla. I thought it was interesting. Oh well. And this sentence about Linux--The name is often thrown around as a buzzword by those who do not know what it is, which explains Strong Bad's absolutely random use of the name--sounds rather pompous, even condescending. ~ Aero 11:44, 16 Nov 2004 (MST)

::Aero has brought up a good point here-- the needless screenshot seems to make this already long article (mainly due to the long transcript) even longer. The fact that Mac OS X displays popups with a different bar across the top would be justified if, on The System is Down or Not the 100th Email!!!, there were a discussion on how "This Page Cannot Be Displayed" only applies to people using the Internet Explorer browser. The overall point being the TBC most likely chose to display popups in the style that they did expecting the most number of users to be using the aforementioned browser (along with Windows). And of course there are going to be users of other browsers and operating systems. I'm sure most of us can agree that we are able to imagine what the differences may be without the need for a screenshot. --Teh P. 22:35, 15 Nov 2004 (MST)

The facts above are true on their own but don't really explain this situation well. In fact it's not an accent issue: "wirus" is the standard, correct German pronunciation for "(das) Virus." In most cases, v's in German (when at the beginning of words) are pronounced like English f's, but "virus" is borrowed from Latin, so in this case Germans imitate the Latin pronunciation, in which v's are pronounced like English w's. You can confirm this by going to (a dictionary page) and clicking on the sound icon by "das Virus" on the German side. I am updating the page to reflect this. -- Minivet 15:30, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

I don't remember your names, Davey!
-

-
Just as a little note to anyone who was curious about this seemingly incoherent line... I think I may have an explanation for it.

-

-
I'd just discovered Homestar Runner the week before 'virus' came out. I found the Strong Bad emails hilarious, so I'd summoned up the courage to send an email in myself. That was also right around the time I'd been battling a rather nasty virus on my own computer, so I came up with the idea to send Strong Bad an email about computer viruses--something along the lines of:

-

-
"Hey Strong Bad,

-

-
I've been having some trouble with a computer virus lately. It's pretty crazy.

-
Have you ever had a virus before?

-

-
Keep checkin' those emails,

-

-
David Kim, OR"

-

-
The rest is pretty self-explanatory. Of course, I have no idea whether or not it's my email that inspired 'virus' or if I'm the "Davey/David" alluded to in the line, but... Until I find evidence to the contrary, I like to believe I had a little role in the creation of "The Virus" and the retirement of the Compy 386.

This statement is true, unless Strong Bad has more of one of the same virus in his computer.

-
:Yeah, it depends on whether Edgar is reporting the number of infections, or the number of viruses. Most anti-virus software reports amount of infections, and I'm inclined to believe this was TBC's intention, but the screen does say "viruses" and not "infections"... so I guess the fact could be counted as accurate the way it reads. 21:37, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
