I am just saying, I don't think that they were talking about the same blender. I could live with this staying, but I think that this should be merged with Items. Rogue Leader / (my talk) 03:16, 18 Sep 2005 (UTC)

And other appearance: on the box for The Show's home game in geddup noise. This makes three full appearances. Seems to be fairly integral to The Show by now. --DorianGray

[edit] Monochrome vs. Greyscale

There's a debate going on right now in a revert war regarding the terminology "Monochrome" vs. "Greyscale/Greenscale/Amberscale". Here's how I always understood it, coming from an extensive computer background:

• Technically, the term "monochrome" means single-color. Pure monochrome displays are 1-bit, and thus one color (usually white, green or amber).
• However: The term has also been expanded to include displays that can show a gradient of different levels of the same color.
  • Technically, the correct term for that is "greyscale", and "greenscale/amberscale" can also apply, though "greyscale" is commonly accepted for other colors as well.
  • A more commonly used term to refer to display technology as a whole is "black-and-white" - the layman's term for "monochrome" and "greyscale". This is especially true of TVs - black-and-white TVs or monitors, compared to color monitors.

So, which terminology is correct when applied to the original Gameboy? I have heard "monochrome Gameboy", "black-and-white Gameboy" and "Greyscale Gameboy", and they're all acceptable. The one that seems to be used the most often is "black-and-white Gameboy", as that most easily distinguishes it from the Gameboy Color. It is not necessary to account for the actual background color of the screen or the greenish tint that the otherwise grey pixels have - people know what you mean when you say "black-and-white". (Not full-color.)

• What about Game Boy Pocket? That is also black-and-white. I always just call it the "original Game Boy". -Tom H
