Are we sure it's "flapper girls" and not "clever girls"?  "Flapper" would be the obvious historical reference, but the word sounds more like "clever" to me, and "flapper girl" seems redundant - I've not researched this point, but I've always understood "flapper" stood on its own, without needing to be a modifier for "girl".

The intentionally tinny audio quality is also very 1920s, & moustaches were not popular in the 30s, but they did say the song did not hold to true time continuity.
