:::::While I welcome all sorts of ideas, I have to reject those that don't do any good. The idea of "welcomed users" pages seems to me to accomplish nothing beyond "vanity" accomplishment. When users are at all motivated to skirt the rules to boost their cred, when we at all resort to "I'm more helpful than you" to boost our cred - in fact, whenever a user feels the need to have "cred" at all here - we have a problem. The solution to the problem is to disallow vanity pages like "welcomed users" pages. {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 02:57, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

:::::::I keep a list of people I welcome, but I do it offline. Online lists have always struck me as boasting and unnecessary, but I could see someone using them to keep track. But is this happening? I'm more a proponent of [[HRWiki:Da Basement/Archive 8#Automatic links for new users|automatic links for new users]] anyway. — [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 03:13, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

::::::::The only valid reason I'd see to keep that information would be to keep it all in one place and in a permanent history. But it'd be best if it was an invisicomment, and at worst, the information can be kept in the main page. Now, Dot com, are you trying to revive an old controversial topic? Maybe there's a way to get the best of both worlds? --[[User:Stux|Stux]] 05:08, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

:::::::::I haven't re-read all the old discussions yet, but I don't recall it being too terribly controversial at the time. We didn't all absolutely agree, but I remember there being general support for the idea. In any case, yes, I'm bringing it up again. — [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 16:57, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

I just visited my page and noticed that I had new messages. Since I have a fake "You have new messages (last change)" snote (which linked to [[Special:mytalk]] and [[Special:Recentchanges]]), I noticed that the real note had less thick words. Did someone make it this way or am I the only one who noticed this? {{User:Don't say jorb 101/sig}}

Alright, I'm probably gonna get shot down. But I personally think that having two or more sigs would be cool. Agree? Disagree?--{{User:SantanaHomerunner/sig}} 02:03, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

== Sandboxes? ==

I've been seeing a lot of users with personal sandbox pages, and I was wondering, should we really allow these? They don't serve the project, and there's already a [[HRWiki:Sandbox|communal sandbox]] for such things. On the other hand, those pages could be useful for article-writing in a space that won't be cleared at some point. Thoughts? --{{User:Super Martyo Brother/sig}} 02:26, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

:"Won't be cleared at some point."? If it's an article in progress, people can understand that and probably won't clear the thing. Even then, we have the wonderful <nowiki>=header one=</nowiki> to separate the article in progress from the actual testing by other users. I agree with your comment. Really, we have one sandbox, and we can do anything with it, so really there's no need for sandboxes to be made by other users. --[[Special:Contributions/75.5.176.233|75.5.176.233]] 02:46, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

::I disagree. If someone is experimenting with something that they want to later have easy reference to, it's much easier to search the history of a page that only they edited and has a small number of edits than it is to search the history of the main sandbox, which gets played with all the time and unless you save the history link, you'll probably never see it again. Also ongoing experimentation won't get cleared from personal sandboxes. I say allow them. {{User:DeFender1031/sig}} 06:05, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

:::I don't have a problem with ad hoc sandboxes—pages of varying names created on the spot to test something particular. I don't even have a problem with a user having a page called "sandbox" in their user space. What's annoying, however, is when a user sets up a sandbox for no real reason except to have it, and then proceeds never to use it. Thus, I don't support a blanket ban on them, but they should be used judiciously. — [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 07:05, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

::::On the BS01 Wiki (its a Bionicle one), they allow it, and I believe they should be allowed If used properly, like Its dot com said. {{User:Kid2255/sig}} 23:57, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

::Well, if you get as passionate as I sometimes do if you know what I mean, I'd suggest putting a content warning template before the link. --{{User:Super Martyo Brother/sig}} 00:10, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

:::No need of the content warning for me. Not yet, anyway. So I can link to any website I may have? Either way, that's good. I need to get my blog out to the people. In fact, you should go on it. {{User:T3H_CH3K7_888/sig}} 18:29, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
