I am all for community building and making the wiki fun for all to particpate. That said, the recurring "clubs" which arise result in a rather difficult problem. On the one hand, some degree of fannish ceremony is appropriate to engage the user; on the other, Recent Changes need not be flooded with talk posts which are not directly beneficial to the wiki. In particular, the encouragement of non-article-improvement contribution should, in my opinion, be abolished. It's ok to bring the occasional off-topic non-sequitor to the discussion, but to elicit these is beyond the limit.
