"Ladies and gentlemen! Or... Gentlemen and, like... two ladies!"

This toon originally was created as an intro for Flashforward 2006 Seattle, and was also shown during The Brothers Chaps' presentation there. Eight months later it was released on DVD.

Homestar and Strong Bad look back at some of their favorite conference memories.

Transcript

{DVD intro: Here is a little cartoon we made to kick-off the 2006 Flashforward Conference in Seattle.}

{A podium is seen labeled "Podium Excellens". The audience is chatting amongst themselves. A spotlight pops open on the podium. Homestar begins rising up to the podium while making an elevator sound effect.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Voooooooooooooooo-ka-chuck. Ladies and gentlemen! {Squinting at the audience} Or... Gentlemen and, like... two ladies! Welcome, to the 2006 Flashback show! {Confetti appears, full stage lights brighten, and music from The Show plays.}

STRONG BAD: {entering} Whoa, we're doing a flashback show?

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Um, I guess so.

STRONG BAD: Awesome! I love a good cop-out! Now, let's take a look back at some of our favorite memories from previous conferences we've done.

{Cut to Strong Bad seated at a table on which the Lappy rests. The Lappy is hooked to a projector. The slide reads, "Celebrating 15 years of PowerPoint dissolves" on a blue striped background with fireworks.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Celebrating fifteen years of the the PowerPoint dissolve.

{Strong Bad taps the Lappy's keyboard, and the screen dissolves to images of men shaking hands and several one-dollar bills, labeled "Shake on it!"}

AUDIENCE: Ooooh!

{Strong Bad taps the Lappy's keyboard, and the screen dissolves to a graph titled "Step 4: Money Dollars". The x-axis is Month, and the y-axis is Year. The maximum value toward the end is labeled "The Olympics!"}

AUDIENCE: Aaah!

{Strong Bad taps the Lappy's keyboard, and the screen dissolves to a page saying "Cleaning Crew Comes on Wednesdays!}

AUDIENCE: {soft applause} Oh yes, yes! ...That time again. {soft applause}

{Cut to a flashback from a different convention, with a banner reading, "WHY TALK TO REAL PEOPLE?"}

STRONG BAD: Welcome, to the 2002 MMOLOTRIPOIPARPG...! Er, what was I just talking about?

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {wearing a viking helmet} Nerds. Geeks and nerds.

{Cut to a stage with several logos displayed. The words "Hot Logo Awards" are across the top of the stage.}

STRONG BAD: Ooooh, Nice pigtails. {Homestar walks on with a hot logo in front of the top half of his body} Whoa, hey there, booksmarts. You look like the type of logo that appreciates a nice caramel apple-tini.

{Cut back to the Flashback show.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Ah, that's some good times.

STRONG BAD: Too bad for you people the good times are over. 'Cuz we're about to stop talking, and some bozo's gonna start. And not the good Bozo either. {They begin to descend from the platform simultaneously.}

BOTH: Vooooooooooooooo.

{The scene holds on the closeup of the podium for a few seconds, and then switches to a wide shot. Strong Bad and Homestar are crouched behind the podium.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Strong Bad, I think this elevator's broke.

{Fade out.}

Fun Facts

Explanations

• "Caramel Apple-tini" is a portmanteau of the words caramel apple and appletini. This cocktail is served at many restaurants; one recipe uses apple-flavored vodka, sour apple schnapps, butterscotch schnapps and sour mix.
• The three letters at the beginning and end of MMOLOTRIPOIPARPG stand for a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game.
  • The "LOTR" stands for Lord of the Rings.
  • The "IPO" stands for Initial Public Offering.
  • The "IPA" stands for International Phonetic Alphabet.

Trivia

• This toon was originally made as an intro for Flashforward 2006 Seattle. They announced there that they would put it up on the site in a few weeks, but instead put it on the DVD.
• The last line of the toon wasn't originally a part of the intro. It was later recorded and animated during The Brothers Chaps' presentation at Flashforward, however a different recording of the last line was made for the DVD release.

• The phrase "The good times are over" was used repeatedly throughout Bug in Mouth Disease.

Real-World References

• The scene depicting the PowerPoint slides is a reference to Mike's job before he began doing Homestar Runner full time; working at Decision Quest making displays and pie charts.
• The logos in the "Hot Logo Awards" are from Wendy's, Boingboing.net, Morton Salt, and Lynda Publishing.
