Oftentimes, characters in Homestar Runner will make reference to top-level domains such as .com in a humorous fashion, often using the domain as a noun.

  • Thorax Corporation — The site makes repeated reference to "Second Income Stream dot com", with variants "Circus Income Dreams dot com", "Second Income Streak dot com", "Second Income Street dot com", "Second Ingrown Stream dot com", "Second Income Trees dot com", and "Second Income Dream dot com".
  • First Time Here? — Homestar calls the website "homestarrunner.net" and misinterprets Cherry Greg's correction as a reminder that the subtitle of the site is "It's Dot Com".
  • April Fool 2014 — Homestar Runner refers to homestarrunner.com as "my dot-com" twice throughout the animation.
  • Mr. Poofers Must Die — Homestar mistakes Strong Sad's costume for "Bill Murray from cartoon Ghostbusters from the voice of Garfield: The Movie dot com".
  • Back To A Website — Homestar starts the cartoon off by explaining that he needs to type in one "dot-com" for each of the 25 years homestarrunner.com had been active.
    • In a callback to First Time Here?, the past version of Homestar says "Welcome to homestarrunner.net: it's dot com, dot com, dot com, dot com...", continuing for a total of 26 "dot-com"s.

  • pom pom — Homestar and Coach Z are seen having a conversation in which Homestar claims his website is under the .egg or .muffin domain.
  • Bug In Mouth Disease — Bubs's business card notes his "EEEEEMAIL" as bubs@bubs.bubs.
  • Sbemail 169 Deleted Scene — The theatrical trailer ends with "whatthepfargtl.egg".
