Talk:Fake YouTube End Screens
From Homestar Runner Wiki
Alternate page organization
It's a little early to decide this, since only three videos have been released with fake thumbnails, but if more videos have reused ones it'll probably be redundant to just keep uploading images of all nine at once and fill the table with "previously shown frame" comments.
Instead, what if we uploaded each thumbnail as its own image and displayed all of the thumbnails in a three-column vertical table? The first column would be each thumbnail, the second column would be a description of the thumbnail and any trivia or remarks, and the third column would be the toon it was introduced in.
So, for example,
Thumbnail | Description | Introduced In |
---|---|---|
(insert uploaded thumbnail here) | Coach Z and Strong Sad dancing on the Race Track in outer space | Fish Eye Lens |
(insert uploaded thumbnail here) | A photograph of a CRT television displaying Swordquest: Earthworld. The Videlectrix Guys appear in the lower-left corner, along with the caption "Joystick Wagglin' with Videlectrix" | Fish Eye Lens |
... | ... | ... |
(insert uploaded thumbnail here) | Pom Pom peeking out of a stylized human brain | Fish Eye Lens |
(insert uploaded thumbnail here) | A framed picture of The Videlectrix Guys next to a four-switch Atari 2600, a Spectravideo Quickshot third-party controller, and a copy of the game Haunted House. The caption reads "Joystick Wagglin' with the 'Trix" | Halloween Safety |
etc | etc | etc |
Once you get to sbemail206, there is only one entry for that toon in the table. Then, on the page for the toon itself, we could just put a 3x3 table of images that includes all the thumbnails at the end of the video, with a link to this page for more details.
Just something to keep in mind as more videos are uploaded. -- ■■ PURPLE WRENCH ■■ 16:20, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- The question is.. Is the page for organization of the thumbnails themselves or what the thumbnails in each video is?

- Oooh. Tough call. I'm leaning towards the thumbnails themselves. Each toon's page can list what its own thumbnails are. In the other case, imagine if twenty videos were uploaded and they all had the same thumbnails but each in a different order. It would no longer make sense to upload twenty images because they were all the same nine thumbnails. For comparison (and there's very little to compare it with on Homestar Runner), would we upload a new image for every Main Page each time the "what's new" button changed or a new Sketchbook was added? -- ■■ PURPLE WRENCH ■■ 16:40, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- Maybe replace "introduced in" with "appears in"?

- I mean, that's okay if we're going to list every video it appeared in, but that could be exhaustive. "Introduced in" means only the first one. If it turns out that they only appear in a couple of videos each, then sure, that makes a lot of sense. -- ■■ PURPLE WRENCH ■■ 16:53, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
