Drive-Thru Whale
From Homestar Runner Wiki
The Drive-Thru Whale, or the Blubb-O Whale, is a smiling blue whale-shaped drive-through speaker that did not originally appear to be linked to a restaurant, though nightlife suggests (and Blubb-O's Commercial confirms) that it is the mascot for Blubb-O's. The speaker is very scratchy and difficult to understand. Its speech patterns range from typical drive-thru speaker phrases like "Would you like to try a combo meal?" to seemingly random phrases like "Sever your leg, please. It's the greatest day," as well as playing a short length of music while moving its flume of water up and down. The Drive-Thru Whale can move from place to place using a rocket booster mounted underneath it, which allows it to fly up into Outer Space, and it can also rise up from underground. It apparently has a taste for Europa-pean Lobster, or perhaps for anything that will sever its leg. The Drive-Thru Whale was originally discovered in The Field, but has since been seen on the Sweet Puttin' Cakes Puttiature Golf-Golf Course and Behind the Fence. The Drive-Thru Whale is in Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People, as a location in The Field. It says random phrases and cryptic hints when interacted with.
Analysis of Speech
Due to the crackly audio quality of the Drive Thru Whale, many of its phrasings seem odd. However, it seems that many of its phrasings may be somewhat logical.
- Would you like to try a combo meal?- Most fast food places sell combo meals, so this is logical.
- Sever your leg, please, it's the greatest day.- This is later revealed to be legitimate, as the Europa-pean lobster removed its leg and the whale ate it. The variant "$9.17. Sever your leg, please, sir." has a price mentioned, which is relevant.
- Pour gravel on your stump, mam.- Purely nonsensical. However, it was said in the nonsensical world of Sweet Puttin' Cakes, so this is explainable.
- Cave your brown.- Once again, nonsensical. However, it was also said in Sweet Puttin' Cakes, which could explain it.
- Relinquish your pipes, please fellas.- Merely parodying its seemingly nonsensical phrasings.
- Register does not contain more than fifty doctors- Could be referencing the anti-burglary tactic of displaying a sign that reads "Register does not contain more than fifty dollars."
- You're living a lie, would you like cash back?- the first part seems odd, but the second part is relevant.
- Slice your fingers thin. (implied)- It could perhaps be referencing slicing chicken fingers thin. As Bubs has no visible fingers, this seems logical.
