Current Status
While I haven't been able to contribute much, I've been excited to see the multilingual Welcome page project come together. How soon will these pages be linked on Main Page? I know that some dummies were made for a front page nav bar. wbwolf (t | ed) 23:05, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Here's my understanding of the current status:
- Translation of welcome pages: Out of the 8 non-English languages for which we have subtitles, 3 have completely translated welcome pages, 2 have partially translated welcome pages, and 3 have no welcome page at all. In my opinion, this part is ready — once the links are on the main page, the greater attention to this pages will probably drive their quick completion (at least in the case of the partially translated ones).
- Toon lists: The idea is to have separate lists of toons for which subtitles have been translated located at Special:Subtitleslist/LANGUAGE_CODE (ultimately, the lists will look something like this). The data for these lists is located at HRWiki:Subtitles/Data, and right now Special:Subtitleslist is automatically generated using this data.
- Links on Main Page: A bigger discussion needs to take place concerning where on the main page the links will go. Changing the format of the main page is a big deal, and we want to make the links for different languages easily visible, but not so much that they dominate the main page.
- So, with respect to #1, I think we're ready to go, but #2 and #3 need to happen before links can be added to the main page. Trey56 23:42, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
