The Brothers Chaps sometimes make parodies and references to Hanna-Barbera cartoons in various Homestar cartoons. Usually there's a Hanna-Barbera reference in a scene with a character running.

Big Toons

• The Luau — The sound effect of everybody running is the old generic bongo sound effect.

Strong Bad Emails

• little animal — In the scene of Strong Mad chasing Strong Bad, the background behind them repeats itself. This is a reference to a loop technique Hanna-Barbara created.
• theme park — Poppy the Tire looks similar to a 1970s character named Peter Puck.
• best thing — The Limozeen cartoon is probably a parody of 1970s cartoons that featured bands who fought villains and solved mysteries.
• highschool — Strong Bad beleiving they were like most cartoons in highschool (i.e. they were a team of super slueths) is parodying cartoons such as Scooby-Doo. Also the Roman times easter egg is probably a parody of an old cartoon series titled The Roman Holidays.

Teen Girl Squad

• Issue 8 — A shark becomes Cheerleader's new backup band. This is a reference to Jabberjaw.
