Talk:Style
From Homestar Runner Wiki
Let me put this simply, the freakin' word "style" is NOT a running gag in the so-called "Homestar Runner universe." How do you people come up with this stuff? It's NOT. IT'S JUST A WORD. — Darth Katana

- I think this article should be cleaned up. The first intent was to list places where the word "style" is used in a non-convetional way, not every appearance of it. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:06, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- Darth, I have just about had it with these comments of yours. Is it that hard to say something polite like "I don't think the word "style" is a running gag. It's really just a word"? We don't have to put up with this. If I see this again, I won't hesitate to block you. Please understand, I am not objecting to the fact that you don't like this article, but rather your rudeness in writing your comment about it. Heimstern Läufer

- I think the problem with this article was that it had too broad a scope (see below). When you limit the scope a little, the gag becomes more apparent. — It's dot com 13:34, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Scope
I removed the following items from the list:
- Hairstyle Runner — "Style" is obviously in the title of the game.
- Email the basics — Strong Bad encourages TJ to "develop [his] own style".
- Email flag day — In the DVD commentary, Mike and Matt discuss making a style guide.
- Email techno — Strong Bad says that techno music is "not really [his] style".
- Strong Sad's Lament — One of Strong Sad's poems seems a "little too upbeat for [his] style".
- Teen Girl Squad Issue 3 — Cheerleader is "going for a whole new style".
- Email pizzaz ...and hears from The Cheat that dressing like a ship's captain is the "latest style".
I don't think they belong, because they are using the word "style" exactly as it's meant to be used. When you remove these from the list, it's more apparent that there really is a running gag going on with the other list items. (Note that I'm not sure I pruned all the ones that needed to be pruned. Some of them were close calls.) — It's dot com 13:34, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- Good point. It's like writing an article on the word "Star" and calling it a "word running gag." — Darth Katana

This is considering deletion...
Just look at this talkpage. It's all about considering deleting it. So, the TBD sign is appropriate, so that people see it and can talk about whether they want to keep it or not. Otherwise if we come to the decision and delete it, it may confuse people why there was no tag. But hey, it's an edit by me, and no matter what I wrote, someone would have to revert it just because it's me, regardless of who's right and who's wrong! Hooray! — Darth Katana

- No need to be so cynical, Darth Katana X. But regardless of the fact that it's your edit to place the tag on the page, I don't believe the reason should be because there's a general conversation loosely wrapped around deleting the page. If you can come up with some reasons as to why the page should be deleted and is unable to be fixed otherwise, please do so. — Lapper (talk) 05:29, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
