The "PI... PI... PI..." is a possible reference to a boss in Bionic Commando that goes "PI PI PI..." when you enter its room.

If you look at the stage select screen, the stages are called 0.1 and 0.2. Also, it is kind of weird that the level number is ...5,6,7,0,9 (apparently there is no level 8...)

I realize that but I'm being pedantic here. After you complete level 7, there is a glitch in the game and so you get sent to the negative zone (which although from a player's perspective is just a themed level 8, from the perspective of the game, it is a separate level found presumably elsewhere on the game cartridge (assuming we're retro here...) Then, once that level is completed, you somehow move onto level 9. So from this perspective, there is no "level 8". The other flaw (the labeling of level 9.1 and 9.2) is more clear cut and should probably be added to the wiki.
