The sandbox is a page that anyone can edit for the purpose of experimenting with Wikicode. It is often used when a newbie or anonny doesn't know what the crap they're doing. It is also sometimes used by more experienced users to do awexome stuff. This is usually a sign that they have too much time on their hands.
On the fanstuff wiki it is used to imitate the NSMC vandal in hilarious ways, but we don't talk about that here.
