The Biblical book of Revelation tells of a Beast who comes "out of the sea". The Beast deceives humanity into worshiping it; mankind is then forced to receive the Beast's mark, "which is the name of the beast or the number of his name." The Number of the Beast is mentioned to be 666. Since Revelation's writing, the Number has been used numerous times in popular culture. 666 appears occasionally in the Homestar Runner body of work, usually in conjunction with Halloween.
