talktobedeleted
Hi there Homestar Coder. When you made the talktobedeleted template, was your intention what is described on the Category:To be deleted page? -- Tom 03:09, 18 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- Nope. The idea was a template that can go on the talk page of an article which is going to be deleted, so people know what the conversation is about... The intention stated on "Category: To be deleted" is also valid, but I would have reworded the template more (talktobedeleted says "This article is pending deletion...). Should I create a new one that says "This talk page is pending deletion", or what? Homestar Coder

- Yeah, that's what I figured. No, I don't really think we need a seperate template for the deleting of talk pages. I could see where the confusion arose though, since the two templates share the category. -- Tom 04:24, 18 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- Did we ever figure out a better wording for the template? I just changed it to "The article this talk page accompanies is currently pending deletion"? It doesn't sound too good, but I wanted to clear that up, along with the instructions on the Category:To be deleted page. What do you think? -- Tom 18:06, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- I think the new wording clears it up, but I think we should have another template to use to signal that we are pending deletion on the talk page and not the article. Like when an anonny creates a talk page like, "Home* Runnuw Rulez!"
- I think the tobedeleted template works well enough for that. I don't really worry about the link to the Talk:Talk: page. -- Tom 18:34, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Thank you
SUP Thank for the message post anthing you want on my talk page Vile.exe
- No problem. Homestar Coder

STUFF/checkstuffpage
Just to satisfy your curiosity, and for no other reason, the anonny followed the link at Template:checkstuffpage and created a page that was, thus, STUFF/checkstuffpage. —BazookaJoe 14:36, 16 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, I see. I thought it might be something like that. Homestar Coder

User Page
Nice user page overhaul. I like it very much. Grood job. —FireBird|Talk 19:17, 18 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you! It isn't so much a coherent overhaul as goofing around with templates.

Amanda... have a nice time. See you on the chicken-man... movie. —BazookaJoe 14:52, 19 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- I don't know what that means! And you still smell like pea soup! Seriously, I'm sure you don't smell like pea soup, but chicken man movie? Guh? ;) Homestar Coder

- Google knows. -- Tom 15:13, 19 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- You know, usually my first instinct in situations like this is to run to Google, but I didn't even think to Google for chicken-man... movie. Homestar Coder

Protecting
Hey Amanda. I wanted to point out that adding {{mprotected}} to an image does not protect non-sysops from editing it. You have to protect it with an admin command. Also, don't forget to unprotect Image:20050818 fanstuff hsr wedding invite.PNG. Thanks! —BazookaJoe 18:33, 19 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- That was silly of me, I don't know why I thought it did. I've never really mprotected something, actually, because somebody usually gets to the whatsnew updates before me... Homestar Coder

- For some reason that made me think of "Each day we die a little more." Maybe those two things are connected ;) Homestar Coder

Willy on Wheels
In order to properly block this troll (when he's not using a user name, he's recognizable by his IP number: his always begins "65.167.69") you have to block the whole range; he's been known to switch IP addresses on a whim should one get blocked. In order to do this, block the range as "65.167.69.0/24". Of course, I'm || this close to putting a permanent ban on the range, but I fear that such an action would block many totally legit users. --Jay (Gobble) 16:39, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- I had no idea that that was Willy on Wheels. Doesn't he usually move pages rather than creating crap pages? Thanks for the notice though. Homestar Coder

TGS Template
Nice work with the Stinkoman 20X6 Template (a good idea that someone should have come up with a long time ago) but we already have a Teen Girl Squad template. --Jay (Gobble) 19:08, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Yeah, I just saw that. Oops. I don't know how I could've missed that when I checked TGS #1. Homestar Coder

Picture orginazing
Nice work on all those pictures when I'm away! You're much faster than me. Anyway, It's Dot Com asked us to patrol our edits. I'm going to do the most recent now, but after that could you continue the patroling? — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:20, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- I don't patrol edits (in the sense of marking the stupid checkbox). I happen to think that the patrol box is a really bad idea. Sorry I can't help you out. Homestar Coder

- As you wish. I'll do it. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:23, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- I continue to question the utility of that, but whatever floats your boat. (By the way, great jorb on the picture captioning, and great idea for a new project!) Homestar Coder

- I thought I'd be cool and try and patrol them all, but there's just to many of them. w00t, Homestar Coder.
- Joe tought me this trick when patrolling edits: it's better to open a whole bunch with tabs in Firefox (or any other tabbed browser), and patrol from there.
I can get through a good 30 in three or four minutes.I suggest patrolling your edits, as it makes Recent Changes easier on the eyes for all of us. :) —FireBird|Talk 23:31, 13 Sep 2005 (UTC)
An Answer
You just asked where that 'Powered By The Cheat' screenshot is from. I think it's from crazy cartoon. Behold my skills to gather data quickly. I didn't know how to change it myself, so I dropped you a line. --DorianGray
- I think you're right. And changing image information is quite easy: just click on the image and then on the edit tab. Homestar Coder

- Well, I figured you could do it quicker and make it look all uniform with all the other ones you've been doing faster than I could. (Of course, you'd be hard-pressed to do anything fast if I keep sending you comments...) Anyways, good luck. And if you need more image sources found in a hurry, keep me in mind. --DorianGray
- Thank you for your help! And my captions aren't all that uniform. I'm just trying to put a good description with links on each image. Homestar Coder
