An IRC channel is available for general discussion regarding the Homestar Runner Wiki.

If you have an IRC client
(see below for details):
#hrwiki
If you don't have an IRC
client or you're not sure:
chat.hrwiki.org

Weekly scheduled chats

The channel is open 24 hours a day, but it's hard to find other people in there at random times. We hold a regularly scheduled chat each week where we discuss the latest Homestar Runner toons and whatever else catches our interest.

Mondays, 5:00–9:00 pm ET / 2:00–6:00 pm PT

(21:00–1:00 UTC from first Sunday in April through last Sunday in October)
(22:00–2:00 UTC otherwise)

To convert the time above to your local time:
  1. Click here to open the World Time Server.
  2. Choose your time zone from the drop-down list in the middle of the page.
NOTE: The result from the link above gives the difference between 5:00 pm ET and your time zone today, not necessarily Monday. If either you or the United States is less than a week from going on/off daylight saving time, the result from the link above may give a result that is off by one or two hours, depending on several factors. It will be correct in all other cases.

IRC clients

An IRC client is a program you can use to connect to any IRC chat channel. Popular IRC clients include:

  • ChatZilla (open source) — ChatZilla is an IRC client extension for most Mozilla-based browsers (Mozilla App Suite, Mozilla Firefox, etc).
  • Gaim (open source) — Gaim can connect to multiple chat networks (including AIM, ICQ, IRC, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger). It also works on many different operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mac, etc).
  • mIRC (commercial) — mIRC is one of the most popular IRC clients with a lot of great features.
  • Trillian (commercial) — Trillian connects to multiple chat networks (including AIM, ICQ, IRC, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger). It has more features than Gaim, but only works in Windows.
  • X-Chat (open source) — X-Chat is a great multiplatform IRC client, completely free for Linux, shareware for Windows but you can still download the source and compile it yourself.
