Summary

A new Trogdor game, coming in August 2004 (or so said). You are Rather Dashing, a peasant wearing short pants, on a mission to slay the evil Trogdor from Burninating his cottage.

VOICEOVER: A real long time ago, in the peasant kingdom of Peasantry, some people lived (flash of lightning) IN FEAR! (flash of lightning and Trogdor). YOU are Rather Dashing, a peasant wearing short pants, who returns from his vacation to find his thatched-roof cottage BURNINATED! You swear revenge and embark on an incredible journey to vanquish the Burninator once and for all. PEASANT'S QUEST!

COMPANY SPOKESMAN: From the company that made that game TROGDOR!, and that game Rabbit Algebra, comes a graphical text adventure of rather large proportions. Videlectrix programmers have actually been hard at work bringing this epic adventure to life. Make your way through the lush 16 color landscapes of Peasantry using our state of the art text commands (get berries) and interface (throw baby). Featuring 2-bit mono PC internal speaker sound! (Plays a song.)

VOICEOVER: Can one Peasant wearing short pants save the country-side from certain Burnination? (Rather Dashing slips in the mud, and then is clumped on the head by Kerrek) YOU DECIDE!

Fun Facts

• This game is a spoof on the old visual text adventure series from Sierra On-Line (King's Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest, Quest for Glory, etc.) The "peasant kingdom of Peasantry" is probably a spoof of King's Quest which is set in the land of Daventry. This is not the first Sierra On-Line visual text game to be mentioned on the site, Homestar said "You should see Space Quest 3. It looks awesome!" to Strong Sad according to his blog.
• The style that the well Rather Dashing is standing near at the beginning of the short is also remarkably similar to King's Quest. In that game, you had to get in the well bucket and ride down to the bottom then swim to a hidden cave where the dragon was.
• The man fishing in the lake is reminiscent of a game called Hugo's House of Horrors. In that game, the man in the boat asked you trivia questions similar to those asked by the guardians near the end of this game.
• When you click 'back' at the end of this short, it takes you to Main Page 13 (Atari graphics) every time.
• The "chug chug chug" sound at the end and during the demonstration of the 2-bit sound is produced by many old 5.25" floppy drives -- the sound comes from the read/write head bumping into the center post. This one sounds like a Commodore Business Machines 1541-II disk drive.
• Near the end of the cartoon, it says the maximum requirements are "a 286 CGA enabled PC." This can't be true because the 16-colour pallette shown must be EGA. CGA would only show four colours in that resolution.
• The computer is an Apple II.
• The First Programmer is played by Matt and the Second programmer is played by Mike. Matt is harassing Mike for screwing up the graphics, and that's Mike's job on the site! (Actually, he and Matt both do graphics.)
• Rabbit Algebra might be a reference to an old game called "Reader Rabbit". It may also be a spoof on "Number Magic", an arithmetic quiz game that involved a rabbit.
  • The equation from "Rabbit Algebra" reads: x^2 + 18 = 99. The answer is x = +9 or -9.
• The ogre which bashes Rather Dashing on the head is Kerrek from the easter egg in interview.
• This may be the Trogdor text adventure that Strong Bad mentions in the FAQ.
• The title of the window actually says "Coming Soon from Vitrelecix!!" This is most likely an intentional typo.
• If you listen closely to the two programmers arguing, it sounds a bit like Coach Z yelling at Strong Sad.
  • Actually, it's more of Coach Z yelling at the 1936 style Homestar. Specifically the 'What?'
• The burning peasant on the final screen is from the pencil drawings (done by Strong Sad?) in the original Trogdor email #58.
• The logo looks like the one of the Adventure Quest RPG.
• The computer that is in this cartoon is the same computer that is on the Videlectrix Homepage.
