The writing on the screen of the Tandy here is a reference to the non-fiction 1982 Pulitzer prize-winner, "The Soul of a New Machine," by Tracy Kidder. Trixie is the computer used by the microprogramming team at the Data General Corporation. The computer was programmed to ask and respond to questions, like a human. "He drew his chair up to his terminal and typed a few letters — a short code that put him in touch with Trixie, which was the machine reserved for the use of his microcoding team. 'We've anthropomorphized Trixie to a ridiculous extent'"(Page 90).
