The Email Processing Room is the nexus of all Strong Bad's e-mail processing. This place exists in one Easter Egg, and nowhere else. It is definitely not a part of the normal Homestar Runner world, but it is clever enough and amusing enough to be listed here.

Linked through Strong Bad's website, (from email 51: "website") this easter egg is found in an animated GIF of a mouse.

Processing Details

The Cheat types on an old computer and prints out a potential email candidate. Strong Mad grabs the paper, puts on his reading glasses and reads the email carefully. He then chews up the paper, spits it into a cylinder, and sends it into a via pneumatic tube to Strong Bad. Strong Mad takes off his glasses. Strong Bad just laughs at the paper and and rips it into tiny pieces. This cycle repeats.

Inconsistencies

Behind Strong Mad can be seen a poster reading "GET BACK TO WORK!" and three signs that say, "PRIDE, DETAIL," and "ETHICS." They originally linked to the newspaper "The Rumor". If you try the links, you will be referred to "The Rumor's" "new address", which has since expired and been turned into an weight loss advertisement page. This is of particular interest, because The Brothers Chaps refer to linking in the FAQ section of their contact information:

Q: Will you put up a banner or link to my site?
A: Our policy has always been absolutely no advertising.
That includes banners, pop-ups, and even links to other sites.

This is, therefore, an interesting and inexplicable exception to that rule. Perhaps TBC forgot about this page when they wrote the FAQ. This is a reasonable explanation since approximately one year had elapsed between the 51st email and the creation of the FAQ.

  • A search for "the rumor" dumpyusa on Google reveals that "The Rumor" was a website run by Brent McNeal and Adam Sterritt. Adam is a friend of Matt Chapman and Craig Zobel and brother of Ryan Sterritt. The "Pride," "Detail," and "Ethics" signs in the cartoon refer to corresponding signs posted in Rumor South headquarters (Adam's bedroom) which outline the Rumor's philosophy. Adam used to run a blog called "Adam's Corner", which may or may not be where Coach Z's "More than 2 problems" joke came from. He took down the blog last year, but his entries are still accessible "in archive form" by manually typing in the URL. There may be more interesting Homestar/Matt bits there for people with a lot of time to dig around.
