The Brothers Chaps, joined by Ryan Sterritt, made several appearances at the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown in Austin, Texas. Four shows took place: Friday, June 10 at 7 pm & 9:30 pm; and Saturday, June 11 at 7 pm & 9:30 pm.

They shared video clips, talked about the website, and performed with the Homestar puppet along with interacting with fans in attendance.

HOMESTAR RUNNER LIVE!
Woot. Woot. Woot. Here’s a weekend that’s going to be soooo goood that you’d have to be a moron to miss it. Seriously. We’re bringing Matt and Mike Chapman, the Brothers Chap themselves, live to the Alamo to present a heaping helping of Strongbad, Trogdor, Teen Girl Squad, Homestar, Marziban, and basically all of your favorite H*R characters in a smorgasbord of cartoons and extras you can’t see anywhere else. These two titans of online entertainment have even promised us that they’ll be bringing the Homestar Runner puppet and shooting an original video just for use in these shows. With the massive popularity of their website, we can’t imagine that these shows won’t sell out in advance, so be sure to reserve your seats today!

Several toons were shared, including best thing and montage. Additionally, several then-unreleased videos were shown including Grumblecakes, Exaggerations, Family Resemblence, Sample of Style Too, and Tis True, Pom Pom, Tis True. Audience members were chosen to perform the karaoke versions of Everybody to the Limit and Because, It's Midnite.

A fan in attendance at the 9:30 Friday show recorded several brief segments. The videos are no longer available but have been transcribed below.

MATT: {as Homestar Runner} It's all over, It's true, Mike. Oh! {Homestar turns around and we see he has no eyes} I... I can hear you all... I... Where are you guys? {crying} Oh no. Li'l Brudder! {the audience bursts into cheers and applause) If only I could see you now! You give me guidance in my darkest hour. {looks at Mike} I need the Autobot matrix.

{Mike gets up and puts one of Homestar's eyes on him, sideways}

MATT: {as Homestar Runner} Ooh, ooh, oh! No depth perception. {Mike puts the other eye on, also sideways} Ooh, oh, AAH! AAH! You guys all look... I'm... Chinese...

RYAN STERRITT: Yeah, you can see how {inaudible}

MATT: {as Homestar Runner} This hurts, Mike. Everybody's inside-out. Alright. Shoo. Bye.

MIKE: That's enough.

MATT: {as Homestar Runner} Nobody wants to come talk to me, I'm outta here. I'm outta here you guys! {Matt takes off the puppet, audience groans}

MIKE: Somebody come and talk to him!

MATT: The puppet will be back later.

  • The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema regularly uses unique videos to remind viewers to silence cell phones and be quiet during movies. Clips from the movies have been used; at the event, a video of Homestar telling the audience to "BE'S QUIET!" was recorded.
