Rankin/Bass was an American production company known for its seasonal animated stop motion holiday specials, mostly on Christmas and winter. Their more notable specials are "Frosty the Snowman", "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". They also made the animated television show "ThunderCats".

- Halloween Fairstival — The Poopsmith is Lion-O from the Rankin/Bass cartoon show, ThunderCats.
- Email modeling (DVD Commentary) — Matt says Parson Brown is a clergyman, and Mike says "I would assume so. He married Frosty". This is a reference to the Rankin/Bass Christmas special Frosty's Winter Wonderland where the children try to get a preacher named Parson Brown to marry Frosty and his snow wife.
- Happy Dethemberween — The TV special Homestar and the others were watching was based on Rankin/Bass TV specials of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town, and Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey.
- 8-Bit is Enough — The TrogSword in 20X6 is a reference to ThunderCats, in particular Lion-O's transformation sequence.
- Which Ween Costumes? — The King of Town and Strong Mad were dressed up as Heat Miser and The Abominable Snowman, respectively.
